Universal and Legendary’s ‘Pacific Rim’ sequel has entered production in Sydney, Australia. The sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 giant robot/monster film will be directed by Steven DeKnight (Daredevil).
DeKnight and star John Boyega have confirmed that the film’s title is ‘Pacific Rim: Maelstrom’ through social media posts. On November 9th, DeKnight tweeted a photo of a clapperboard with the film’s name on it and the caption “Day 1 of shooting. The adventure begins… #PacificRim2.”
On Thursday, Boyega, who will play the role of Idris Elba’s character’s son, shared a photo on Instagram of his script with “Here’s to a great adventure ahead.”
Scott Eastwood, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Adria Arjona, Tian Jing, Levi Meaden, Mackenyu and Cailee Spaeny will co-star. Guillermo del Toro, John Boyega, Jon Jashni, Mary Parent, Thomas Tull and Femi Qguns will produce. Angarag Davaasuren, and Eric McLeod will serve as executive producers.
‘Pacific Rim: Maelstrom’ is set to open in theaters nationwide on February 23, 2018.
