Cate Shortland’s thriller Berlin Syndrome centers on a young woman in that exact situation.
Recently screened at Sundance in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition, this thriller stars Lights Out actress Teresa Palmer as a young woman caught up in a passionate holiday romance that takes “an unexpected and sinister turn when the Australian photographer wakes up one morning in a Berlin apartment” and realizes that she is trapped.

Palmer co-star alongside Max Riemelt. Lucie Aron, Matthias Habich, Cem Tuncay, Maia Absberg, Emma Bading, Kristina Kostiv, and Thuso Lekwape co-star.

Vertical Entertainment is set to release the Berlin Syndrome on May 26, 2017. The second trailer has arrived and it looks intense.
