Quentin Tarantino is currently working on his ninth and still untitled film set in 1969. Tarantino has been eyeing a number of stars for the film. According to Deadline it seems Oscar-winner Leonardo DiCaprio has now signed on to star and will be playing an aging, washed-up actor.
While hasn’t been confirmed, the word is actress Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad) has been cast to play Sharon Tate. The brilliant filmmaker is said to be also hoping to nab actors Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Al Pacino for roles in the film.
Tarantino has stated that the film is NOT a Manson movie but will cover major events from 1969. That is the year that Nixon took office, The Beatles played their final show, Flight 266 crashed killing 38, the Zodiac Killer terrified California, and the Tate-LaBianca murders rocked the nation.
Reportedly, the film will feature Sharon Tate who was 8 months pregnant when she was murdered along with four other people at her LA home on August 8, 1969. On that night four of the Manson family members, Tex Watson, Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian, and Patricia Krenwinkel slaughtered the group under the orders of Manson. The next day Manson, Watson, Kasabian, Atkins, Krenwinkel, Steve Grogan, and Leslie Van Houten entered the home of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca and butchered them too.
The film is set to be released on August 9, 2019, which happens to be the 50th anniversary of the LaBianca murders.
