While Child’s Play franchise creator Don Mancini and Universal are hard at work on their new franchise series, Orion and MGM have teamed up for the Child’s Play reboot. And the first full trailer is finally here.
With Polaroid director Lars Klevberg in the director’s chair, Chucky will make his return to theaters this June. But that’s not all, Chucky’s getting a makeover and a new name. Originally known as “The Good Guy Doll” the red-headed killer has been rebranded as “Buddi”, an A.I. doll vastly different from the original talking doll.
The movie follows “(Aubrey Plaza) who gives her son (Gabrial Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.”
Beatrice Kitsos (“The Exorcist”), Brian Tyree Henry (“Atlanta”), and Ty Consiglio also star in the film written by Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury).
Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are producing under their KatzSmith Productions banner. Aaron Schmidt and Chris Ferguson are executive producing.
Child’s Play will open in theaters on June 21, 2019.
