Kevin Smith Making New “Masters Of The Universe” Series For Netflix

Kevin Smith announced at Power-Con that he is currently developing a new anime “Masters of the Universe” series for Netflix. Yes, Kevin Smith, the same Kevin Smith behind Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob. Variety is reporting that the series’ title is “Masters of the Universe: Revolution.”

 

 

 

According to the site the series “will take place in the Mattel toy inspired world and will focus on some of the unresolved storylines of the classic ‘80s show.”

 

 

I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe,” Smith stated. “In ‘Revelation,’ we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!

 

 

Eric Carrasco (“Supergirl”), Tim Sheridan (“Reign of the Supermen”), Diya Mishra (“Magic the Gathering”) and Marc Bernardin (“Alphas”) will be writing “Masters of the Universe: Revolution” with Smith is serving as both exec producer and showrunner.

 

 

The 1987 American fantasy action film directed by Gary Goddard and written by David Odell. and starred Dolph Lundgren. It was based on the Mattel toyline of the same name and brings the story of two teenagers who meet the mighty warrior He-Man, who arrived on Earth from planet Eternia and now goes on a mission to save the universe from his nemesis Skeletor.
