Demons, angels, and miracles are just some of the things that are considered very serious in the Catholic Church and have been forever. In the series “Evil” we watch as a team made up of a priest in training, a psychologist, and a contractor delve into reports of exorcisms and more for the church.
Kristen (Katja Herbers), a clinical psychologist, struggles so hard to be a good mother and wife while trying to find fulfillment in her work. Though she’s a skeptic about the supernatural world after being recruited by David she can’t deny what is happening in the world around her. David Acosta (Mike Colter), who brought her aboard his team, is the opposite, he’s a true believer. The other member of their team is a general contractor and computer wiz Ben Shakir, played by Aasif Mandvi, who believes that there is a scientific reason for everything. He delivers a lot of comic relief in the series and does so with a straight face.
Originally airing on CBS in 2019, “Evil” has been given new life on Netflix, making their top 10 list after premiering earlier this month. With something for every viewer, drama, horror, murder, a dash of comedy, existential crisis, and demons, there is a constant sense of every character and the story constantly evolving as truths begin to link events together.
Michelle King and Robert King, the creators of the series, have blessed us with a unique, spooky, and thrilling series that needs to be at the top of your “watch list!” No question, it’s a 5 out of 5.
With “Supernatural” coming to an end, now is the time for a new series to step up. “Evil” will fill that need in a way that’s more mature, more sophisticated.
Season two of “Evil” is reportedly set to arrive on CBS this Fall. Below you will find the “Home Made” trailer filmed during the lockdown. Stay tuned for more. In the meantime, check out season one now on Netflix!
