Over the past year news of TV adaptions of comic books and comic book characters has come frequently. Now DC’s character Lucifer from ‘The Sandman’ comics and it’s spin-off comic titled ‘Lucifer’, is joining the list of adaptions that includes ‘Constantine’, ‘Arrow’, ‘Preacher’, Robert Kirkman’s ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Outcast’.
The character ‘Lucifer’ was created by Neil Gaiman, Mike Dringenberg and Sam Keith, which premiered in ‘The Sandman’ in 1989. The comic follows ‘Lucifer’ as he abandons his throne for the “shinning insanity” of LA. There he befriends a pop star, who is murdered in a drive by, in front of Lux, the night club that he owns. The murder stirs something in him and he vows to punish the people responsible. The detective assigned to the case, Chloe Dancer (Lauren German), is intrigued by Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and his ability to get the truth out of people. Together they set out to solve the case.
‘Lucifer’ is scripted by Tom Kapinos, who wrote for ‘Californication’. Jerry Bruckheimer and Littman (CSI) along with Len Wiseman (Sleepy Hollow and Underworld) will serve as executive producers for the series. Len Wiseman (Underworld) will be directing the series. ‘Lucifer’ star Tom Ellis starred in the series ‘Rush’ and Lauren German, who plays detective Dancer, played the role of ‘Beth’ in Eli Roth’s ‘Hostel II’. Rachael Harris (The Hangover), Lesley-Ann Brandt (Spartacus: War of the Damned), Matt Corby (The Shield), Johnathan Salisbury (Captain Cook: The Legend Begins) and D.B. Woodside (Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2) will serve as the cast for this supernatural series.
‘Lucifer’ will premier this fall.
