Netflix has now revealed the December premiere date for the second season of their huge hit fantasy series “The Witcher” as well as the new trailer. The news came out the first WitcherCon.
Based on the novel series by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, season 2 finds monster-hunter Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) returning to his childhood home with Ciri (Freya Allan). “Convinced Yennefer’s (Anya Chalotra) life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.”
New cast members for season two include Adjoa Andoh (“Bridgerton”), Cassie Clare (“Brave New World”), Liz Carr (“Silent Witness”), Graham McTavish (“Outlander”), Kevin Doyle (“Downton Abbey”), Simon Callow (“Four Weddings and a Funeral”) and Chris Fulton (“Bridgerton”).
Season two of the epic series will premiere exclusively on Netflix on December 17, 2021.
In addition to the new season, fans are also getting “The Witcher: Blood Origin,” a new six-part live-action prequel miniseries starring Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, and Michelle Yeoh, is on its way and will focus on the original creation of the Witchers 1,200 years before Geralt was born. Netflix is also gearing up for the August premiere of “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf,” an anime spinoff film from Korean animation house Studio Mir.
