Production is currently underway for the upcoming horror film Woken, the feature directorial debut of Alan Friel, who was behind the 2017 short film Cake (watch it here).
Variety reports that the Irish horror stars Erin Kellyman (Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Green Knight) and Maxine Peake (“Anne,” “Rules of the Game”), and is “set on a remote island in the North Sea.”
Woken is set against a post-apocalyptic backdrop in which an island provides a safe haven from a pandemic that has ravaged the earth. Anna (Kellyman) wakes up pregnant, unable to remember her husband. “Disbelief in what she is being told leads to a horrible revelation and Anna having to contend with existential issues brought on by man’s destruction of the planet.”
Filming has already begun in Ireland for Woken, which is being produced by Fantastic Films.
