Netflix will unlock the magic of “Locke & Key” one last time. The streaming giant has announced the summer premiere date for the series’ third and final season.
Another of Netflix’s Geek Week reveals, the first look teaser reveals the Locke family rallying to face the bag guy, played by Kevin Durand.
In the series, “After their father is murdered under mysterious circumstances, the three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father’s death.”
From Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House), the series is a coming-of-age mystery about love, loss, and the unshakable bonds that define family.”
The series, an adaptation of Joe Hill‘s best-selling graphic novel “Locke and Key,” stars Darby Stanchfield (“Scandal”), Jackson Robert Scott (IT), Connor Jessup (“American Crime”), Bill Heck (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Emilia Jones (“Horrible Histories”), Layla De Oliveira, Thomas Mitchell Barnet, and Griffin Gluck (“American Vandal”).
As for it being the final season, the creators had this to say:
“Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion,” Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill said in a statement. “As storytellers, we are grateful that we had the opportunity to tell our version of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s incredible story exactly the way we wanted. We’re keeping the magical keys, though, for our own personal use.”
Season three is set to premiere on Netflix on August 10, 2022.
