The first image from HBO’s “The Last of Us” series was shared this week at Summer Game Fest, giving us our first look at stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, who both appeared in “Game of Thrones.”

.

“The series takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.”

Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian”) stars as Joel, with Bella Ramsey (“Game of Thrones”) starring as Ellie. Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) has been cast as Tommy, Joel’s brother. Storm Reid, Anna Torv, Jeffrey Pierce, Nick Offerman, Murray Bartlett, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, and Con O’Neil also star. It was also announced at the event that video game actors Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker will also have roles in the upcoming series.

Kantemir Balagov (Beanpole), Jasmila Žbanić (Quo vadis, Aida), and Ali Abbasi (Border) are directing episodes of the series developed by Craig Mazin (“Chernobyl”) and written by Neil Druckmann, who is also executive producing.
