No, this is not The Onion, cinemas in Hong Kong have pulled Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey from their lineups due to “technical glitches” which it’s a bit odd that it happened to all copies of just this film in multiple theatres… All signs point to Chinese authoritarian censorship. For those not familiar, all images of Winnie the Pooh, that loveable honey-addicted bear who is all about doing nothing because it could lead to something, who in recent years has entered the public domain, is banned in China. Tindalos Interactive and Focus Entertainment announced the release date for Aliens: Dark Descent, the strategic, real-time, squad-based tactical action game in collaboration with 20th Century Studios that will take players into an original story set in the Alien universe. Along with the release date comes a new gameplay trailer showcasing what awaits players. In Aliens: Dark Descent players take on the role of a Colonial Marine Commander tasked with giving orders to your squad of Marines as you investigate what happened on the planet Lethe. Players will encounter threats both human and Xenomorph as they descend further and further into the colony of the planet. Aliens: Dark Descent will be launching on June 20, 2023, for Playstations 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

In 2005, dare I say, the gaming world changed as one of the biggest franchises, Resident Evil, took their iconic game in a new direction after three massive hit games. Resident Evil 4 took the fixed camera view and made it over-the-shoulder allowing players to see the world differently and feel like they’re in the middle of the terror along with the characters. The game also set the bar for the rest of the franchise and sparked a massive cult following full of memes that only those who’ve experienced the game would know. Jukai Studio and Versus Evil, announced today their upcoming psychological horror thriller Stray Souls which the General Manager of Versus Evil, Steve Escalante, has said that it’s “-built by horror fans, for horror fans.” Stray Souls is a third-person survival horror where players take on the role of Daniel, a teenage boy who recently inherited his grandmother’s house that is holding a lot of dark secrets that Daniel soon realizes after meeting Martha, an enigmatic woman who knows a lot about Daniel’s grandmother and her house. As Daniel uncovers the dark secrets of both his past and his grandmother’s, his nightmare slowly becomes neverending. Stray Souls will be a third-person game that’s heavily influenced by old survival horror games. Players will encounter randomized events making each playthrough different such as paranormal activity, the weather, enemy encounters, and item placement. Stray Souls is expected to be coming out this year (2023) for PC, PlayStations 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The name Rachel Carson probably means nothing to you, what about Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane? Well in Whitethorn Games’ The Forest Cathedral players will learn them. The Forest Cathedral is a fictitious telling of real-life marine biologist Rachel Carson and her research into the harmful effects of the bug pesticide DDT was having on the environment. I would like to thank Whitethorn Games for the reviewing opportunity! Onto the game itself! When it comes to the controls, The Forest Cathedral‘s controls are limited so there are not a lot of buttons to worry about, most of the game’s action seems to come from the “Little Man” mechanic (a platforming computer game within the game that acts as a terminal to operate machines). The visuals for the game are stunning and beautiful for the most part, you have to keep an eye out for some unnerving things happening in the background. With the successful launch of the remaster of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, Koei Tecmo got to work to remaster the fourth game in the Fata Frame game series that originally came out in 2008 in Japan only, disappointing many North American fans (Me included!), but the right has been wronged and now Fata Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is here and I can’t thank Koei Tecmo enough for giving me a chance to review it! Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse follows three characters, Misaki and Ruka, two girls who went missing on the island of Rogetsu with three other friends when they were children, and Choushiro, a police detective who found the girls after they went missing ten years prior to the game’s story. The three are now searching for answers as to what happened on the island and the girls ten years ago, and why the girls are dying one by one. Now onto

The name Bendy entered the social conciseness back in 2017 thanks to multiple youtube playthrough videos of the quirky and dark tale of the Mickey Mouse-like character Bendy the Demon and the cursed studio that created him. With a heavy viral following that spawned an array of children’s merchandise, it was clear that a sequel had to be made, and I had to dive into this inky rabbit hole. Grab a can of bacon soup, this is Bendy the Dark Revival. I want to thank Joey Drew Studios for the reviewing opportunity! Bendy the Dark Revival takes place in the 1970s when an animator named Audry who while staying late working on a Bendy cartoon, is brought into The Cycle, an alternate cartoonish reality where living animations live thanks to the infamous Ink Machine that’s capable of bringing cartoon characters to life. At the PlayStation State of Play, Capcom released a new trailer for the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4. The trailer shows familiar faces as well as some new looks at some updated foes that new and old players will have to face on their journey as Leon. Along with the new foes come new locations never before explored. It’s also announced that the demo of Resident Evil 4 will be available as well as news that everyone’s favorite DLC ”The Mercenaries” will be free and coming out sometime after the main game’s release. The timing of the demo and DLC release will come at a later date. In addition to the Standard Edition of Resident Evil 4, a “Deluxe Edition” is now available for pre-order. The Deluxe Edition includes additional in-game content, including costumes, weapons, a treasure map, and more. Now imagine that through the eyes of a 13-year-old. That’s what players are expected to live through in Intruders: Hide and Seek.
