Back in 2009, a game launched a series of “Gothic RPGs” and developed a cult following, that game is Risen, and today it’s been brought to 2023 by being ported to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Did the port work Or should have Risen stayed in 2009? I would like to thank THQ Nordic for the reviewing opportunity! Risen is about an unnamed character who ends up washed ashore on an island that’s under the control of Inquisitors and inadvertently frees titans. Now onto the game itself! The control layout for Risen is quite… overly complex. Pretty much every button does something and not what you think it should do. I’ve also noticed a lack of proper tutorial resulting in me having to wing it for a good majority at the start. Gaming is serious to a lot of people, but unfortunately what seems to be harmless can affect you if you’re not careful. The Valari has developed a gaming pillow that’s designed to improve your posture while gaming as well as make your sessions more comfortable by providing support for your elbows and forearms. Low-poly rendered games that remind you of the way games looked back in the late 90s and early 2000s are becoming more of a thing now, Chasing Static did well on PC and was ported over to consoles to bring the nostalgia back, did it work? Let’s find out. I want to give Headware Games and Ratalaika Games S.L. for the reviewing opportunity. Chasing Static takes place in Wales where players take on the role of Chris, a man who came back to burry his late father and is trying to make his way back home but gets caught up in a strange turn of events where he must explore the surrounding area to find clues to what is happening and how he can help stop the anomalies being caused by an unseen force as well as looking for a waitress, Aneira, that has gone missing after their meeting. Many have heard of Baba Yaga, the witch of Slavic folklore said to live in the woods in a house that sits atop a pair of chicken legs, and who is either Good or Evil. With every story there’s a beginning, right? Well, this is where Blacktail comes in with the telling of the origin the of famed witch. I want to thank THE PARASITE and Focus Entertainment for the reviewing opportunity! Blacktail tells the story of Yaga, a young woman who’s looking for her sister missing twin sister Zora in the forest where her abilities start to manifest as she begins to learn more about herself and the witch she can become. Now onto the game itself! The controls for Blacktail are pretty straightforward, especially for FPS players as this is a first-person game and Yaga uses a bow as both a weapon and tool. It’s that time of year as 2022 is coming to a close and along with it many game releases. This year was a busy review year, and going through the list I was able to come up with 15 horror games that I reviewed ranked from bad to good. It’s a long list so let’s start with one of the worse games reviewed this year, shall we? 35MM This Russian-made first-person game is labeled as a “Survival Horror” taking place in a post-apocalyptic world. The scariest thing about this game was how horrifically boring it was with a lack of scares and action. The game is more of a depressing walking simulator. Mothmen 1966 An 80s-style DOS game about a group of characters trying to survive a night with multiple Mothmen attacking them. The premise sounded promising but the game copped out on that. The game’s slow pace, and abrupt ending (just as a story was actually forming!) I wanted

Danny Trejo. ‘Nough said right? He’s a living film legend with several credits to his name appearing on TV and in films ranging from horror to children’s movies. A rough exterior with a soft humble soul beneath. You would be surprised to know that he owns a chain of restaurants and donut shops in California! My Sister and Brother got to visit Trejo’s Donuts (Which they loved) but is there a way to bring the badass taste of the West Coast anywhere else? YES! I was lucky enough to be able to try out Trejo’s Hot Sauce that’s available online in the Trejo’s Tacos store! I want to give a big THANK YOU to Trejo’s Tacos for helping make this review possible! After a fire tore through the iconic historical site Notre Dame in Paris, France, archeologists were shocked to discover, including those in charge of the famed church, a pair of sarcophagi made from lead. This caught the imagination of many as previously mentioned, even those in charge of Notre Dame and who know its history well, were not aware that anyone was buried under the floor of the popular tourist destination. A few days ago, scientists have finally opened the sarcophagi. Sorry internet conspiracy theorists, no vampires, no lost biblical treasure, all that was inside were the skeletal remains of noblemen, one of which archeologists were able to identify quickly thanks to an epitaph that was preserved within. The owner of the one lead coffin belonged to Antoine De la Porte who died December 24th, 1710 at the age of 83. De la Porte was a Canon, a clergyman who was quite wealthy, in his lifetime he commissioned several works

With the year nearly ending I was allowed the opportunity to play Children of Silentown nearly a month early thanks to Daedelic Entertainment and Elf Games. A spooky game that’s rated E for everyone?! How does that work? Let’s find out, this is Children of Silentown. Children of Silentown takes place in a small village located in the middle of a forest that’s home to monsters that can be heard at night. Due to the threat outside the village, strict rules based on superstitions were put into place but the foundation of the village is slowly being rocked by Lucy and her quest for answers about her nightmares and the disappearance of her mother which has the village on edge. Now onto the game itself! Children of Silentown‘s controls are pretty basic as it’s a point-and-click style game, with tutorials and reminders of what buttons do what. The Game Awards 2022 wrapped up by delighting gaming fans around the world awarding fan favorites and scoring some upsets. But one thing was clear, there were plenty of world premiere trailers for some upcoming horror/dark fantasy titles! From the makers of Vampyr comes Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden where players play as a pair of literal ghost hunters in 1695 North America who hunt and banish ghosts, there’s just one problem, one of the Ghost Hunters is a ghost herself after getting killed on a mission. Now players will have to hunt spirits in the wilds of the new colony of New Eden and help rid the land of its ghosts while trying to find a way to save one of their own.
