Paco Plaza, the director behind 2007’s found footage flick [REC], is back with the Spanish horror film Veronica which has been all over genre sites since it arrived on Netflix earlier this month. The reason the film is getting so much buzz, many viewers can’t finish watching the film because it’s so scary. One thing that adds to the reputation is the fact that it is based on a true story. The film centers on a young woman (Sandra Escacena) who must protect her younger brother and sister after she attempts to contact the spirit of their dead father through a ritual using an Ouija board. So, what’s the true story that inspired the film? Back in August of 1991 in Madrid, Spain, a teenage girl named Estafania Gutierrez Lazaro died a mysterious death. Her parents believed the death was caused by Estafania playing with an Ouija board. Shortly before she passed away one of her friends died in a

Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant will soon be returning to Netflix for season 2 of the zomedy (zombie-comedy) “Santa Clarita Diet”. I don’t know about you, but we couldn’t be happier. The show has it all including a new blood-soaked trailer. In “The Santa Clarita Diet” Joel (Timothy Olyphant) and Sheila (Drew Barrymore) are husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenaged daughter, Abby (Liv Hewson), until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending their lives down a road of death and destruction…but in a good way. Picking up right where we left off, Season 2 of “Santa Clarita Diet” finds the Hammonds trying to adapt to Sheila’s now-advanced undead state — even though she’s desperately working to hold on to her suburban lifestyle and not be defined as just another monster. Unfortunately — while the family has become markedly better at murder — the number of missing people in

According to the site, “The Vampire Diaries'” Matt Davis and “The Originals” actress Danielle Rose Russel have joined the show as Alaric Saltzman and Hope Michaelson. The two will star along with Quincy Fouse, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, and Aria Shahghasemi. The spin-off is still in development and has yet to be ordered to series by The CW, but we are keeping our fingers crossed. The CW’s president, Mark Pedowitz, previously revealed during the 2017 Television Critics Association summer press tour that the network had discussed a Hope-centered spin-off with “The Originals” and “The Vampire Diaries” creator Julie Plec. This April IFC Midnight will introduce to audiences to Lowlife, hot off its festival tour that included Fantasia, Frightfest, and Cinepocalypse. The new trailer is here and it has a serious Tarantino vibe. “What happens when you throw together a fallen Mexican wrestler with serious rage issues, a just-out-of-prison ex-con with a regrettable face tattoo, and a recovering junkie motel owner in search of a kidney?” “Set amidst the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles, Lowlife zigzags back and forth in time as it charts how fate—and a ruthless crime boss—connects three down-and-out reprobates mixed up in an organ harvesting scheme that goes from bad to worse to off-the-rails insane. Careening from savagely funny to just plain savage to unexpectedly heartfelt, this audacious thriller serves up nonstop adrenaline alongside hard-hitting commentary about the state of contemporary America.” In our interview, actress Nicki Micheaux described her character Crystal as, “a woman who has made a lot of bad choices in her life.
