Even Witchcraft Can’t Save ‘The Craft’ From Being Remade

When I started going through all the news about horror this morning I was shocked, saddened and infuriated to see that ‘The Craft’ has now been added to the very long list of movies set to get remade over the next two years. That’s right, Sony has ordered the remake of ‘The Craft’. (*Facepalm) Leigh Janiak, the writer of 2014’s ‘Honeymoon’, has been tasked with writing the script for the new version of the teenage witch thriller, along with Phil Graziadei who also co-wrote ‘Honeymoon’. The director and cast have yet to be announced for the project. The remake is still in the early phases of preproduction and does not have a release date at this time. I remember the first time I saw the 1996 teenage witch movie ‘The Craft’. The movie was fantastic, it put a spell on me. I must have watched that VHS a hundred time before my VCR ate it. To this day ‘The Craft’

Nazi Zombies Attack In ‘Sky Sharks’

A team of geologists, deep in the Antarctic, uncover an old Nazi laboratory containing the remains of dark experiments. The scientists accidentally unleash a top-secret project, modified, flying sharks and their mutated, super-human zombie riders. The only force that can stop the mutated weapons are the “Dead Flesh Four”, a team of undead U.S. soldiers that were killed and reanimated during the war in Vietnam. Marc Fehse is the director behind ‘Sky Sharks’. The cast includes Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (‘Planet of the Apes’), Robert LaSardo (Death Race), Tobias Schenke (Taxi) and Micaela Schafer (Seed 2). ‘Sky Sharks’ sounds like a great flick, but there is one catch, the people behind the zombie movie need your help to finish the project. They are running a Kickstarter campaign to help raise the money for production and to prove to investors that ‘Sky Sharks’ is worth the investment. Did I mention the cool perks their Kickstarter campaign offers, including shirts, DVDs, posters, set visits

Movie Review: ‘What We Do In The Shadows’ (2014)

The mockumentary ‘What We Do In the Shadows’ follows a group of vampire flat mates through their night to night lives, their partying, hunting, the drama, issues with a werewolf pack, zombies and dating. Jemaine Clement plays the role of Vladislav, the Romeo of the bunch. Ben Fransham’s character Petyr is the oldest of the group, he’s the hungry silent type. The hot-headed vampire, Deacon, is played by Jonathan Brough. Viago, the vampire that serves as the glue that keeps the group together, as well as making sure everything is taken care of, is played by (writer/director) Taika Waititi. The wild card and new vampire, Nick (Jonathan Brough) seems to be the source of most of the groups troubles. Let’s not forget Stu, the only still living human of the bunch, played by Stuart Rutherford. The writing/directing team of Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi have created a hilarious horror-comedy, with the makings of a cult classic. ‘What We Do In

‘Halloween’ Is Getting Yet Another Reboot

You may recognize the names of the writing duo of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, the team are behind several great horror movies of the past decade. Their credits include several of the ‘Saw’ franchise, ‘The Collector’ (2009) and ‘The Collection’ (2012). They also wrote 2013’s ‘Pacific Rim’. Now the duo has been tasked with writing the script for the new ‘Halloween’ reboot (sigh). That’s right, another ‘Halloween’ reboot. At least this time, John Carpenter will (supposedly) be involved. The new version of the 1978 classic horror movie, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence, will have nothing to do with the 2007 reboot, by Rob Zombie. Don’t get me wrong, I think Dunsten and Melton have serious writing talent, but do we really need another ‘Halloween’ movie? Dimesnsion Films and The Weinstein Company seem to think we do. Right now this is all we know about the reboot, but we will keep you posted as more details become Available.
