Halloween, Our favorite time of the year. It’s the time when there’s a chill in the air, pumpkins are everywhere and horror marathons reign on TV. It’s also the time when we have our annual contests and giveaways. Here are the info and rules on our Halloween contests for 2015. Pumpkin Carving Contest We want to see your best horror related pumpkins! Rules: The pumpkin must be from 2015 You must be able to prove that it is your pumpkin No limit on entries Pictures must be entered before November 2nd at midnight (eastern) The pumpkin must have horror theme (includes the Walking Dead) Entries may be made through Twitter, Facebook or email ([email protected]) 1st and 2nd place winners Prizes: 1st Place: Nosferatu POP, ZADF decal pack 2nd Place: ZADF decal double pack Pumpkins Featured on our Facebook and website Winner certificate Halloween Horror Short Story Contest Rules: Short story must have a minimum of 100 words and a maximum

It’s that wonderful time of year when people’s yards and houses are filled with skeletons, pumpkins and monsters. For Chillicothe, Ohio, a yard decoration turned out to be the real thing. At 8:30 am on Wednesday morning, a construction worker went to get a close up look at a body decorating a fence, only it turned out be a lot more than just your average stuffed dummy, it was the body of a murdered woman. The body was hanging from it’s sleeve from the fence, and the neighbors all thought it was just a decoration. Tammy Dixon, one of the witnesses to the find, was quoted as saying “Just put my hands over my face and said ‘This can’t be happening here, it’s not real’, and ‘I just didn’t see what I thought I saw.”‘ The victim had been beaten so badly that her face was unrecognizable. Later the body was identified as Rebecca Cade, a 31 year old mother,

Normally, when we think of a house covered in seasonal lights we think of Christmas, but there is house in Riverside, California, that does Halloween lights like no one else. The house is covered in lights that, are you ready for this, are programmed in sinc with the themed music that is blared over speakers. The light show is so incredible that year after year, videos of the home, owned by a Verizon employee named Kevin Judd, goes viral. If you’re wondering how long it takes to create such a display, Judd has commented that it takes fifteen hours to program each minute of the light show, not counting the hours it takes to put up the lights. It’s well worth it, thousands of people drive from all over to see the show. The videos of the home get more than a million hits each year. There streets are lined with the undead and only one hero can save the day. No, it’s not Rick Grimes or Daryl from The Walking Dead, it’s Spencer, a 7 year old boy. Spencer, like most people these days, is obsessed with zombies. Spencer has Mitochondrial Disease, which is terminal and has no cure. The Pasco County Sheriff’s office made the boy’s dream come true. Sheriff Chris Nocco invited Spencer down to the station. A full motorcade arrived to pick the young man up. After arriving, Spencer was told that a horde of zombies (actually the local high school’s drama club) had over run the station. Sheriff Nocco told Spencer “We’re overrun, buddy. We need your help. We need a team leader out there,” as he put a badge on Spencer. Spencer, proceeded to dispatch the zombies as he led the K-9 Unit and SWAT Team through the building, armed with NERF guns, through the jail. After the mission was

Camp Crystal Lake, the location where Jason Voorhees drowned as a child and became an unstoppable killer, is really a camp owned by the Boy Scouts of America, located in Hardwick, New Jersey. The camp’s real name is Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco, which opened in 1927. On Friday, November the 13th (how fitting) the camp will be opened, for only the third time, for fans of ‘Friday the 13th’ to tour. Tickets go on sale on October 12th at 10 am (est). If you are interested in buying tickets, you should know that the last time the tours were offered, it only took eight minutes for them to sell out. Tickets can be purchased on the CAMP No-Be-Bo-Sco website.

To: New Line Cinema From: B Harrison Smith Re: Friday the 13th: Tommy Jarvis vs. Jason Vorhees Make Tommy vs. Jason. You’re sitting a goldmine. I am told the rights to Friday the 13th are a mess. Paramount owns some, you own some. Some are parceled out to TV while the films retain others and the characters. I’ve heard one tale that both studios share custody over the franchise like a divorced couple. I have no idea if this is true. What I do know is that the ownership of rights has become so convoluted that no one seems to have a definitive answer. The legal octopus is strangling you from making another killing and I’m willing to bet it could be straightened out. At the risk of shooting myself in the foot and giving away my thoughts for someone to steal, here is a proposal to get Jason out of development hell. I attended two meetings in Los Angeles

It’s that time again, Halloween is approaching and haunted attractions around the world are gearing up to open their doors and scare the hell out of visitors. Every year haunted attractions are getting more hardcore. If you’re living in the UK, we have a haunted attraction you might want to check out, that is if you don’t mind them scaring you right out of your clothes, literally. Scare Kingdom’s park features an attraction that is the only attraction, as far as we know, that requires you to roam it’s corrodes in the buff. You read that right, to enter you have to be willing to go in completely naked. Scare Kingdom’s ‘Night of Naked Horror’ will have you face a lineup of scary staff to experience the theme of 7 Deadly Sins. Don’t worry, there are plenty of other attractions at the park for those of you who want to stay clothed. The park opens September 26th. For more information

This year I represented the ZADF at Dragon Con. It was no great imposition. I was going anyway. I go every year. The only real difference is this year I’ll be writing about it. I’m guessing that many of you have never heard of Dragon Con, and are probably wondering what the hell I’m talking about. Have you heard of Comic Con in San Diego? You probably have. It has become a huge event every year that draws massive crowds and gets national media coverage. What many people don’t realize, is that Comic Con is just one of many Cons. There are conventions devoted to comic books, video games, table top gaming, fantasy, science fiction, anime, and of course horror; then there is Dragon Con. Dragon Con covers all of those things and more. It takes place in Atlanta, GA and has been around for a while (it started back in 1987). I’ve been attending since I was a kid

Jordache Horror Somewhere in the 80s, someone got the idea that horror should be less frightening and more sexy and trendy. I am not sure where it happened, but a good starting point might be Michael Jackson’s Thriller. The “World Premiere Video” back when MTV aired videos and before its implosion was the thing to see. Director John Landis was in between the smash hit horror classic, An American Werewolf in London and the public relations nightmare of Twilight Zone: The Movie. Michael Jackson was truly The King of Pop, and his LP, Thriller elevated MTV into something else…exactly what, I don’t know, but Thriller was more than a video. It was a pop culture event and it used horror as its spring board. Vincent Price became known to a the Pepsi Generation as “the old dude who “rapped” in Thriller and laughed at the end. Academy Award winner and makeup genius, Rick Baker did the makeup effects and suddenly
