Coming from a period of massive social upheaval in 1970’s Italy, the “Years of Lead” as they were called, inspired filmmakers of the time to dip their toes in all-manner brutal crime pictures (the poliziotteschi genre), and our fine fiends at Arrow Video have collected some of them in the aptly named Years of Lead collection, a series of five films on Blu-ray that represent the era to a “T”! First up comes 1975’s Savage Three which concerns Turin-based computer programmer Ovidio (Joe Dallesandro), and his two pals Peppi (Guido Di Carli) and Giacomo (Gianfranco De Grassi); a trio of bored-ass mother fuckers that aren’t above starting a soccer riot, stealing a car, and riding folks down if they like their wheels better… ya know, just for kicks! Making matter worse, the men all have shitty home lives, and are in danger of being replaced by machines at work, which in turn fuels larger and larger crime sprees featuring those

Speaking of “bad”, that whole eloping idea was right shit and long story short; Otsuya ends up a prostitute who’s fortune gets even more like a puddle of puke when she meets a shady-as-fuck master tattooist who decides Otsuya’s ivory-white skin would make one hell of a canvas for his latest work; a big-ass monster spider with a human face, and right on her back that shit goes. A those few precious days before college… not quite an adult, definitely not a child… a time to experience things purely for perhaps the last time… a chance to gather up your pals and go traipsing into a jungle for a little R n’ R, and perhaps a chance to stare into the gaping maw of hell itself, you know, for the fun of it all… So yeah, a gang of friends head down the raging rapids and end up at a hotel located deep within that verdant landscape. Of course this leads to them encountering all manner of odd occurrences that reveal there are supernatural shenanigans afoot, but is it the hotel and jungle that are cursed, or do the simply bring out the darkness that already dwells within? Let’s get the biggest challenge some of you may face with Face of the Devil; while the runtime is brief (around eighty minutes), this is definitely an entry in slow-burn

Shudder has a ton of new content being released this summer, one of the original horror films coming to the streaming horror service is the Russian (English language) horror Superdeep, whose brand new trailer teases an intense, action-packed, frightening film. Written and directed by Roman Karimov, the film stars Milena Radulovic, Maksim Radugin, Nikita Dyuvbanov, and Andrey Trushin. It was produced by Sergey Torchilin, Alexander Kalushkin, Ivan Tarlykov, Konstantin Elkin, and Andrey Lyakhov. In Superdeep, “The Kola Superdeep Borehole is the most large-scale secret object of the country. In 1984, inexplicable sounds like the screams of many voices were recorded at a depth of more than 12 kilometers. In the wake of these events, the object was closed. A small research team went down below the surface to find out what secret the world’s deepest borehole was hiding. What they have found turned out to be the greatest threat in history. And the future of humanity is in their hands.”

The French filmmaking duo of Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, known for their films Inside and Leatherface, is taking viewers underwater for their new horror film The Deep House, a unique twist of the haunted house subgenre. In the film, “While diving in a remote lake, a couple of YouTubers who specialize in underwater exploration videos discover a house submerged in deep waters. What was initially a unique finding soon turns into a nightmare when they understand the house was the scene of atrocious crimes. Trapped, with their oxygen reserves falling dangerously, Tina and Ben realize the worst is yet to come: they are not alone in the house.” James Jagger (The Outpost) and Camille Rowe (Knuckledust) star in The Deep House, set to be released in France on June 30th, with a U.S. release to follow.

There’s nothing like a good, fire roasted hot dog, and Raffaele Donato… or Joe D’Amato… must have thought so too as Deep Blood opens with what seems like an eternity of kids cooking hot dogs on a beach… hell, one of the scamps manages to use one as a shield to block his vision from the suns rays. Enter: a bum… or a “native American”… yes, those quotes are denoting some of my patented, award-losing sarcasm cats n’ creeps, as this dude looks to be nothing more than an old white guy in a beaded headband arrives and tells our wiener-hungry heroes that if they do a blood oath they can bring forth an evil spirit. Sounds legit. Moving forward a bit, that shit seems to have actually worked, as a mother and her young child stop for a swim in the middle of nowhere (speaking of “swimming”, although the characters are outside, the underwater shots of the kid swimming

Tisha spends her days wandering a dry, dusty, post-apocalyptic landscape engaging in the organ dealing biz… but she’s about to get a job walkin’ revenge’s road when an old woman hires her to put a murder on a certain individual that spends his time at ye olde brothel. A simple set-up to be sure, but this one is going to get super brutal in short time… and therein lies a problem or two cats n’ creeps… Scavenger is a film packed with nastiness… most of it inflicted on our heroine, who is sexually assaulted for an incredibly long time. In a film that runs roughly seventy-five minutes with credits, there is a large amount of attention given to the villain of the piece shoving various “weapons” into Tisha with violent abandon.
