New Anthology Coming This April Reveals The True Horror Of The ‘Holidays’

A new horror anthology from Vertical and XYZ will soon be released. The film, titled Holidays, focuses on all the major holidays celebrated all over the world, like Christmas, Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve. The anthology will bring together a horde of great genre directors including Kevin Smith (Tusk), Gary Shore (Dracula Untold), Adam Egypt Mortimer (Some Kind of Hate), Scott Stewart (Dark Skies), Matt Johnson (The Dirties), Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact), Sarah Adina Smith (The Midnight Swim), Anthony Scott Burns (Darknet) and Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsh of Starry Eyes. Holidays will make its world premiere at this year at the Tribeca Film Festival, followed by it digital and VOD release on April 15th, followed by its theatrical release on April 22nd.

Friday the 13th Gets Lucky

A Few Words From Our Ms. Palmer “What a piece of shit! No one’s gonna see this crap!” — Actress Betsy Palmer aka Pamela Vorhees The late, esteemed critic, Roger Ebert, coined the phrase “Dead Teenager Movie” and I have stated several times that Jaws 2 arguably gets technical credit as the first one. While teenagers in peril was a long standing theme and used over and over again, it’s the sequel to Spielberg’s game changing shark movie that lined them up one after another for the monster to pick off. Jaws 2 gave the designer sheen to killing off teens. It wasn’t a grainy “B Movie” that played part of a double bill at the drive in. This was wide screen Panavision and a 50 million budget. Clever Girl’s Top 5 Films of 2015

This year was a fantastic year for film! “Mad Max,” “Jurassic Park,” “Star Wars,” and “The Terminator” all appeared once again on the big screen. Horror fans had an opportunity to enjoy remakes such as “Poltergeist,” and see sequels to “Insidious” as well as “Paranormal Activity.” We had the conclusion to “The Hunger Games” and finally got to see the works of Guillermo del Toro with “Crimson Peak,” and the rebirth of the iconic horror-thriller director M. Night Shyamalan with “The Visit.” Did any these films make my favorite five list? Reality vs. Bullshit The only fact about any of the Amityville Horror films is that the DeFeo family was murdered in their sleep inside the house on 112 Ocean Avenue. The real horror is what the surviving relatives of the murdered Defeo’s must endure every time one of these lousy films is made. Hollywood cynicism goes beyond making bad films and trying to pass them off as good or worse yet, classics. The real cynicism is from the studios that torture the DeFeo family and make a buck off a terrible situation. As a result, I wonder, has any studio that made these films ever donated a few posthumous bucks to the DeFeo family for their trouble? I’m not one for reparations, but many of these films invoke the DeFeo name. Maybe a scholarship or two set up in memory of the victims? A lot of people made a lot of money off this family’s tragedy. The Scariest Parade On Earth, Austria’s Annual Krampus Parade

With Christmas rapidly approaching and Krampus opening in theaters this weekend, the anti-Santa is everywhere, including Austria’s yearly Krampus parade. At the “Krampuuslauf Graz” parade, known as “The scariest parade on Earth”, hundreds of people dressed in their scariest Krampus themed costumes join to celebrate the legend and scare who they can. The centuries old legend of Krampus has Germanic roots. The beast is St. Nicholas’ other, darker half. His job is to punish naughty children. Krampus, half-demon, half-goat, literally beats the naughty out of bad kids with birch sticks, before dragging them into the underworld. In Norse mythology, Krampus is the spawn of Hel and arrives in town on December 6th. I don’t know about you, but after seeing these terrifying characters, I swear, I’ll be good next year. I would hate to get on Krampus’ list.

You Better Watch Out, Krampus Is Coming To Town This Weekend!

Legendary Pictures in-conjunction with Universal will be unleashing Michael Dougherty’s holiday-horror-film, Krampus, in theaters this weekend. The film follows Max, played by Emjay Anthony (Insurgent), a young man who has turned his back on Christmas. During the holiday, as his family’s dysfunction reaches an all time high, Krampus, an ancient deity who punishes bad children on Christmas, is unleashed. The bickering family must find a way to work to together if they want to survive. Krampus stars ‘Parks and Recreation’ actor Adam Scott, Toni Collette (Hostages), Allison Tolman (Fargo), David Koechner (Anchorman), Conchata Ferrell (Mr. Deeds) and Stefania Owen of ‘The Lovely Bones’. ‘Krampus’ was written by Todd Casey and Michael Dougherty, who also directed the film. The Unkindness Of Ravens

Director Lawrie Brewster’s latest film, ‘The Unkindness of Ravens’, was inspired by Norse and Celtic mythology surrounding Raven Warriors. Brewster describes the film as “Apocalypse Now meets The Evil Dead’. The film stars Scott Gordon, in the role of Andrew, a homeless Army veteran suffering from PTSD. Andrew, battling with his inner demons, goes on a retreat in the Scottish Highlands to cope with his flash backs and his overwhelming fear of Ravens, which plague his visions and nightmares, as well as his life. In the remote wilderness Andrew’s nightmares manifest in to an enemy that he must battle to regain his sanity. ‘The Unkindness of Ravens’ is in the final stages of filming and there is currently a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds for post-production. ‘The Unkindness of Ravens’ will arrive on DVD in the summer of 2016.
