Jim Henson‘s The Dark Crystal is getting a prequel via Netflix, but it isn’t his only project that is finding a new life. Henson’s dark fantasy anthology series “The Storyteller” is also on the books to get a modern reimagining. Fremantle has teamed up with The Jim Henson Company and brilliant writer, actor, director, producer Neil Gaiman (“American Gods”) for a new version, Deadline reports. “The Storyteller” which premiered back in 1987, retold European folk tales with a combination of actors and puppets. “In the new incarnation, written and executive produced by Gaiman, The Storyteller will create a mystical world combining various fairy tales and folklore.” Part of what fascinates me about The Storyteller is the stuff that we don’t know,” said Gaiman. “Who was the Storyteller, why was he telling these stories, was he a goblin, what kind of creature? Carlotta Moore (playing herself) blows into town like an unholy amalgamation of Father Merrin and a film noir femme fatale (and you can bet her make-up is flawless to boot)! What is Moore’s mission? To perform an exorcism of a man possessed by consumerism (and armed with a killer credit card)…all at the hands of a walking, talking Satanic tooth (have I mentioned this short is batshit insane?)…things get stranger from there with Moore attempting to complete her crusade against capitalism no matter what outre forces stand in her way (and if you think that tooth was weird, you are in for oh so much more…)! You know how folks are always going on about “how they don’t make flicks like they used to in the Grindhouse days?” Well CHRZU fucking does! This dude is a powerhouse of beautifully shot, ultra-shocking pure exploitation bliss (and there’s a message in there for ya too), and The Congregation continues that trend (and

Brace yourselves, you’re not going to be happy with I’m about to tell you. We’ve been reporting for a while that a series adaptation is in the works for the beloved 1987 vampire film The Lost Boys. Today we have an update. The CW’s series is going to be very different from the story we know and love. In fact, several characters are getting a gender swap, including the Frog brothers, originally played by Cory Feldman and Jamison Newlander. That’s right, the two vampire slayers are going to be girls in the series. Collider is reporting that the Frogs will now be named Cassie and Liza. Ugh (*facepalm). While no casting has been announced at this point we have our fingers crossed that this will be the only change to the main characters. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for expanding storylines to make all viewers happy, but when main characters based on cult classics are drastically changed I can’t

Following this month’s episode of Hulu and Blumhouse’s holiday-themed horror series “Into the Dark”, titled “Down”, director Daniel Stamm (The Last Exorcism) teased his upcoming horror film, a home invasion thriller, during a conversation with Daily Dead. His next project titled Them was written by Bryan Bertino (The Strangers). Them, set in Texas, centers on a group of oil workers attacked by something out in the desert and sounds like a new spin on the home invasion genre. I’m hopefully directing next a movie called They, written by Bryan Bertino and produced by Dark Castle. We’re casting now,” Stamm told the site. “Bryan Bertino is the guy who wrote and directed The Strangers, and he has a talent for writing set pieces that are really fresh, interesting, and unpredictable. It’s so hard to do something original and fresh in the home invasion space, because there are only so many ways to scare someone.” Stamm continued, “It’s home invasion… all set

Yeah, ol’ Bob made like a fuckin’ banana and split, leaving his wife Darlene (Camille Sutherland) and rebellious teen daughter Eva (Julia Sarah Stone) in his wake…to say nothing of a promising hockey career…to start over in a remote Canadian town. Because he is slowly, painfully. turning invisible, which admittedly would tax the ol’ noggin a bit…and lately that “slowly” part is starting to speed up exponentially. Before long, Darlene calls Bob home to help wrangle in their daughter…but there’s one small problem; she goes missing, and Bob doesn’t take kindly to that, so he sets off on a mission of vengeance to find her…all before he vanishes altogether.
