McElroy, who wrote the original, wrote the new film’s script too. “Backwoods terror and never-jangling suspense meet when Jen (Charlotte Vega) and a group of friends set out to hike the Appalachian Trail. Despite warnings to stick to the trail, the hikers stray off course—and cross into the land inhabited by The Foundation, a hidden community of mountain dwellers who use deadly means to protect their way of life. Movie Review: The Hex

Reine Swat makes her feature film directorial debut with The Hex (originally titled Heks, and AKA Her Mask), a South African horror tale involving witch doctors and human evil. The film is rich in atmosphere but it also has some confusing elements. After witnessing her mother being killed upon her return to her native South Africa, a British Girl (Coco Lloyd as Dilanne) then travels to that country to spend time at her aunt’s (Mary-Anne Barlow) home while trying to unravel the mystery of her mother’s unsolved murder. The aunt’s occupational therapist (Mari Molefe van Heerden) has been sworn to secrecy about a skeleton in the family closet, but believes that Dilanne should be informed. Plagued by weird visions, Dilanne seeks the help of a witch doctor (also van Heerden), and the intrigue begins to slowly build. The Hex has an eerie look to it, but relies on jump scares and a series of hallucination sequences to jolt. Any atmosphere

Actor Brad Henke Talks CBS’s “The Stand” In Our Interview

Unless you’ve been living under a rock somewhere, you’ve heard that a new limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Stand” is on its way. I had the opportunity to sit down with one of the show’s cast, Brad William Henke, who plays the central role of Tom Cullen. Of course, this is far from the first time that I’ve heard Henke’s name, you see he’s starred in two of my favorite series, “Orange Is the New Black” in which he played a prison guard with a wrapped sense of justice, and “Justified”, as a redneck bad guy. Henke has been in over 95 films and series. I was eager to talk with him. Horror Fuel: “I really enjoyed your work in both Justified and Orange Is the New Black. Boy, you play a rough character in that one. Piscatella was a real piece of work. Was it difficult filming scenes like the one with Red and to get in

‘Climate Of The Hunter’ Bares Its Fangs This January

Dark Star Pictures has announced the January release of Mickey Reece’s critically acclaimed indie award-winning vampire film Climate of the Hunter. In the film, “two sisters, Alma and Elizabeth, along with a dog who’s described as a “philosopher,” have come to Alma’s remote house to reconnect with Wesley after twenty years. Alma is recently divorced, Elizabeth is a workaholic in Washington, D.C., while Wesley lives in Paris dealing with a wife recently struck with a fatal disease. When the three come together for dinner it has all the makings of a lovely adult melodrama about loneliness, and the desire to connect and share our lives with someone… but we must add to the mix one otherworldly piece of information: Wesley could be a vampire.” Ginger Gilmartin, Mary Buss, Ben Hall, and Jacob Ryan Snovel star in Climate of the Hunter, which arrives on VOD on January 12, 2021, from Vortex Media.

First Look: Nicolas Cage Stars In His Wildest Role Yet In ‘Prisoners Of The Ghostland’

The first batch of images is here from Sion Sono‘s action-horror movie Prisoners of the Ghostland which Nicolas Cage describes as the wildest film he’s ever starred in. In the film, “When a notorious criminal, Hero (Cage) is sent to rescue an abducted girl who has disappeared into a dark supernatural universe, they must break the evil curse that binds them and escape the mysterious revenants that rule Ghostland.” It’s out there. I wear a skintight black leather jumpsuit with grenades attached to different body parts, and if I don’t rescue the governor’s daughter from this state line where they’re all ghosts and bring her back they’re gonna blow me up.” Cage says. Movie Review (Another Hole in the Head Film Festival): Murder Bury Win

Rich in sharp dialogue, amusing situations, and cast members wonderfully bringing their easy-to-root-for characters to life, writer/director Michael Lovan’s Murder Bury Win is a delightful crime comedy with horror elements. From nail clippers to bear traps and beyond, if it can be used as a murder weapon, the protagonists in this film have most likely thought of it. That’s because the main trio is made up of three would-be board game developers. Chris (Mikelen Walker), Adam (Erich Lane), and Barrett (Henry Alexander Kelly) are three game-nerd friends who are trying to come up with a product that can challenge Murder Wall as the next big thing. Chris is interested in the challenge, Adam is interested in the potential money, and Barrett is interested in the collaboration. After the three buddies fail in their crowdfunding effort for the titular game, they are invited by legendary indie game developer V.V. Stubbs (Craig Cackowski) to show him their game. Impressed, or at least
