Two brothers already uneasy in each other’s company find themselves in an increasingly tense situation when they encounter a stranger during a backpacking trip in director Adam Gascho’s thriller Stray Dogs. Solid acting and storytelling make Gascho’s debut feature an independent effort worth seeking out. Jeff’s (Skyler Pinkerton) beloved dog has just passed away, and Jeff wants to bury him in the remote forest area where he found him. Jeff insists that his brother Travis (Tad Davies) accompany him on the backpacking excursion, which will mean Travis having to miss custody time with his children. He reluctantly goes along with Jeff, and the two brothers quarrel often. Meanwhile, in the area where the brothers are hiking, Park Ranger Miller (April Martucci) happens upon the body of someone who appears to have been murdered. During their hike, the brothers run into a stranger named Angus (Gascho) and when Ranger Miller asks the men for their IDs and relationship, Jeff surprisingly backs

2019: After the Fall of New York‘s Michael Sopkiw stars as Kevin Hall, a dude that loves playing with his bone… or more accurately, bones; and of the dinosaur variety at that! This mother fucker of a paleontologist hauls those shits around in a wood box he drags behind him like a “modern day” (well as of 35 years ago anyway) Django! So this Kev cat hitches a ride on a plane headed down to the Amazon (after a barfight so ridiculous it would be right at home in a Looney Tunes short… sound effects and all), along with a motley crew that includes, but is in no way limited to: an egghead professor (Leonidas Bayer) and his comely daughter (Suzane Carvalho), a couple of fashion models (the breathtaking Maria Reis and Susan Hahn), a crazed Vietnam Vet (Milton Rodríguez) and his high maintenance nag of a wife (Marta Anderson)… a real Gilligan’s Island type of sitch, but imagine the

Netflix has a great track record with its originals these days (bar Cuties), so when I saw first saw the trailer for their thriller The Devil All the Time I was excited, however, neither the trailer nor the plot description prepared me for the true darkness of this film. First, the cast. With stars like Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgård, Robert Pattinson, Haley Bennett, and Jason Clarke, the film could have been one of those obnoxious movies that simply rely on star power, but that’s not the case. These stars come together to create a truly fantastic story whose events and characters are all connected to Tom Holland’s character Arvin Russell’s life story. But don’t get me wrong, we don’t just see glimpses of the other characters, we are put into their lives, dreams, and the hardships they endure. Every actor puts their heart and soul into their roles and it shows, each was amazing. Bill Skarsgård exudes the trauma, heartbreak,

Things aren’t exactly salad and cream (that’s a thing that’s good, right?) for Malik (Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman) and his partner Aaron (Ari Cohen) who move to the ultra-suburbs with A-dawgs teenage daughter Kayla (Jennifer Laporte). Being the 1990’s and all, the townsfolk are not exactly hip to the same-sex couple bag, though they hide it well… but not well enough to keep Malik from slip sliding away into paranoid delusions… or are they? Yeah, this one is a bit of the ol’ mind fuck cats n’ creeps! Director Kurtis David Harder and screenwriters Colin Minihan and John Poliquin have created one hell of a potent combo of social commentary and full-on horror biz. Firstly, our protagonists are so likable that we just know things are going to go tits up for them in the worst possible way, and boy howdy do they fucking ever! Cohen and Chapman make for a believable couple, and no matter how much we want hings to
