Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have again teamed up to again bring players face-to-face with hoards of enemies with John Carenter’s Toxic Commando, an FPS with the vibe from the 80s with a mix of humor and horror! In John Carenter’s Toxic Commando, the world is plunged into terror after attempts to dig to the Earth’s core unleashes the Sludge God who begins to terraform the planet and turn the living into the mutated undead. The ones responsible for causing this catastrophe, hired the cheapest mercenaries they could find since the good ones are too expensive, the Toxic Comandos. Players can take on the role of one of four Toxic Commandos and team up with friends to rid the world of this otherworldly terror using guns, grenades, special abilities, and melee weapons. Fictional Games made their mark on the gaming world with Amnesia: The Dark Descent which became a massive hit thanks in part due to the neverending trove of youtube videos featuring obnoxious overreactions. When the game finally came to console I will admit I was disappointed in how the hype that was built up to it fell flat on its face as I felt the game was more tense than scary with only one good jumpscare in it. I’ll admit I never got around to playing the sequels (A Machine for Pigs, and Rebirth) so I can’t 100% say how they faired against the first game, but Amnesia: The Bunker, definitely outranks the first! I have to give a big thanks to Fictional Games for the reviewing opportunity! Amnesia: The Bunker follows Henri, a French soldier fighting in the First World War. Almost a year ago, SOEDESCO announced their acquisition of Spanish development studio Superlumen, with their most recent project being the award-winning title DESOLATIUM. Today, SOEDESCO reveals that the game is coming out this year. DESOLATIUM is a point-and-click adventure using scenes from the real world to tell the story of four different playable characters who are on the search for their friend who vanished under mysterious circumstances. The adventurous road ahead of them will take them down a dark path where the legendary Old Ones await. DESOLATIUM will also feature ambisonics audio and an art style based on old comics. DESOLATIUM will be coming out this year for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

THQ Nordic and Picese Interactive have announced the release date for the upcoming remake of the Survival Horror game that birthed the genre, Alone in the Dark. Along with the news comes a new video showing what fans are expected to await them. Along with more information and behind-the-scenes footage, THQ has announced the actors who will be playing our protagonists Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby. Players can choose between Emily and Edward before venturing into a literal house of horrors. Actors Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, Free Guy) and David Harbour (Stranger Things, Black Widow) will not only be providing their voices to our heroes, but their likeness, and acting skills as well. Alone in the Dark will be coming out on October 25, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Blazing Bit Games’ retro FPS Nightmare Reaper had a successful launch on Steam and now has found itself on console thanks to Feardemic! So what made this “Boomer Shooter” (as some of you so-called 90’s kids are calling it) great on PC? We’ll have to take a look! I want to thank both Blazing Bit Games and Feardemic for sending over a copy! The game follows a patient who is locked away in a sanitarium for unknown reasons to the player. The patient goes to sleep and is in a nightmarish world where she fights monsters. Now onto the game itself. Nightmare Reaper‘s controls will have to take some time to get used to for controllers as some of the buttons you are used to using for traditional uses like jumping and interacting are mapped out differently with these controls, so time to get used to them is required! Leonardo Interactive and Invader Studios have announced the demo for their survival horror game Daymare 1994: Sandcastle on Steam on May 11th before the game’s full release in August. The demo will also allow players to provide feedback and suggestions to the developers, which will be considered for the final version of the game together with the final fine-tuning to ensure the game will meet fans’ expectations on release. Daymare 1994: Sandcastle is a prequel to Daymare: 1998 where players are put into the role of Dalia Reyes a former government agent who is starting her new job with the H.A.D.E.S. and is tasked with infiltrating a covert government experimental facility but it soon becomes evident that Reyes is in over her head as she will have to fight for survival in a labyrinth of dark hallways full of creatures, and puzzles to solve.
