Buckle-up cats n’ creeps, because if you’ve never heard of 2008’s Deadgirl you are definitely in for a raised fuckin’ eyebrow or two, to say the very least… One hot day, high school chums Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) and J.T. (Noah Segan) take a powder from school, and decide to hang out at Ye Olde Abandoned Psychiatric Hospital. Once there they find a naked, mute woman (Jenny Spain) lashed to a table. Naturally J.T. near-immediately wants to rape the woman, but Rickie is wisely none too keen on that particular action and books… but later J.T. reveals the girl is an undead creature as he attempted to put a murder on her to no avail. Still with me… if so, you can probably already gauge if this particular flick is your cup of terror tea or not. After four years, the indie horror film Paralyzed with Fear, written and directed by Glenn Berggoetz, was finally released. Horror icon Kane Hodder, known for his roles in the Friday the 13th franchise as Jason Vorhees and the Hatchet franchise, stars alongside Haidyn Harvey and Andrea Rabold. In the film, “When a 15th-century demon is unleashed on a house full of women, he won’t stop until he has destroyed them all.” Paralyzed with Fear is out now on Prime Video from Bayview Entertainment.

At Fear Fest 2023, attendees were given a surprise on the first day of the event, a game launch. That game was Pleasantly Friendly Games and Feardemic’s No Son of Mine. The game was first launched on PS5, Switch, and PC at the time but has recently been released on Xbox, and Feardemic was awesome enough to send over a copy (thanks by the way!). No Son of Mine is a first-person survival horror where you search for clues about your mysterious pursuer, a demonic child. No Son of Mine‘s controls are limited, so they’re simple to remember. The audio is decent and the soundtrack helps set the mood, especially when things get spookier. No Son of Mine‘s gameplay is relatively simple, you explore the map looking for clues as they help you progress, as well as offer you some insight into the story. Black Mandala presents the supernatural horror film Cheat, written and directed by Kevin Ignatius and Nick Psinakis (The Long Dark Trail). This film reminds you why it pays to be faithful. In Cheat, “A supernatural being from the afterlife is violently killing anyone who cheats on their significant other in the small college town of Silvercreek, Pennsylvania. Maeve and Charlie seek out a local history student to help find answers and figure out a way to defend themselves. It all comes undone, however, as the savage being horrifically kills several people one by one at a rapid pace. Black Mandala Films and Urban Achievers S.A. have now announced that they will team up to co-produce the upcoming sequel to the 2020 horror The Red Book Ritual, which is titled The Red Book Ritual 2: The Gate of Hell. The sequel is set to begin filming in early 2024. It will mark the beginning of a series of collaborations between both production companies aiming to turn the capital of Paraguay into a hub for genre cinema production and to boost the work of local talents who have long been developing projects related to horror and thrillers. The Red Book Ritual, distributed in more than one hundred countries, tells the story of a group of people gathering at a mansion whose halls are scared by a massacre from the past. Happy Halloween! Nothing better to celebrate it than with a spooky game, am I right? Well, that was what I was hoping for with Jukai Studio’s and Versus Evil’s Stray Souls, a horror survival that I’ve been excited about since I was first told about it. I appreciate Jukai and Versus Evil for allowing this reviewing opportunity but, I’m sorry to say that this was a rough one to get through. Let’s get the positive parts of the game out of the way first. The soundtrack is possibly the selling point for the game with famed gaming composer Akira Yamaoka on board. The only issue is that while playing Stray Souls, I was able to make out at least two songs that were done by him, causing me to wonder if he only did a couple of songs for this game. Christmas is coming early for fans of the Terrifer franchise with the theatrical re-release of Terrifier 2. After screenings, fans will be gifted with the exclusive trailer for Terrifier 3, Boody-Disgusting reports. It will also feature a special intro from creator Damien Leone. But that’s not all. On opening night, November 1, 2023, the first 100 fans through the theater’s doors will score an exclusive poster, which has now been leaked, that sees Art, axe in hand, standing in front of a Christmas tree draped in entrails and decorated with heads. While details surrounding Terrifier 3 are still being kept quiet, we do know that it is a Christmas movie, a departure from previous entries. Franchise creator, writer, and director Damien Leone is returning for the sequel along with stars Lauren LaVera and David Howard Thornton, who plays Art the Clown. Terrifier 3 is expected to open in theaters in 2024. We will keep you posted.
