Animal Rights Horror-Thriller ‘Liberty’ Acquired By Gravitas Ventures

Gravitas Ventures has just announced that it has acquired the North American rights to the award-winning animal rights horror-thriller Liberty, written and directed by filmmaker Philippe De Witte. In Liberty, an idealistic park guide holds six strangers captive, treating them like caged animals, to deliver his chilling message of freedom to the world. As his hostages run the gamut from confusion and disbelief to anger and hostility to grief and despair, our anti-hero compares their mental and physical breakdown to those of wild animals struggling in captivity. Walking the line between Stephen King and Henry David Thoreau, Liberty features a breakout performance by Nicholas Michael McGovern and stars Alice Barrett (“Another World”), Olan Montgomery (“Stranger Things”), Denny Dale Bess (“Law & Order: SVU”), Samantha Smart (“Katy Keene”), Jonathan Kirkland (“Tulsa King”), and Andrea McKinnon (Boyhood). “Liberty is a timely thriller, a personal take on animal welfare with larger themes of freedom and injustice. Audiences will be captivated during the film,

Upcoming Indie Horror ‘Turn Back’ Is Making Waves On Kickstarter

Their new indie horror film, Turn Back, is coming out of the UK and making waves in the genre before it has even been made, raising nearly $225,000 on Kickstarter in record time. Told in reverse, Turn Back, directed by Riyad Barmania, the film is from Relentless Films and is based on the infamous “Black Shuck” legend, born in the 12th century, from the east of England. The legendary surrounds a tale of a ghostly demonic hound that roamed the Norfolk countryside and became known as an ‘omen of death’ to local residents. If you hear it’s howl, so it was said, whatever you do, close your eyes. This isn’t your standard demon horror film. Like Memento and Irreversible, it will be told in reverse chronological order, with each jump backward in time revealing new information, making for a distinctive take on the horror genre. Director Riyad Barmania says of the crowdfund’s success: “The response is just unbelievable. We’ve set

Movie Review: The Toxic Avenger Collection Tox Set 4K Ultra HD (1984 – 2000)

Troma is a god-damned freaky flick legend, and for decades the studio’s most popular creation has been the radioactive waste-spawned superhero; The Toxic Avenger! Bozo (Gary Schneider) and his cretin cronies spend their time working out, fuckin’, and running over people with their car for shits n’ grins… but the one thing that really gets their rocks off is making life miserable for the local gymnasium’s nerdy janitor, Melvin (Mark Torgl). After one such humiliation (involving a sheep in a bra, and Melvin in a tutu), Melvin ends up both on fire
