Filmmaker Larry Fessenden, who has delivered horror films such as The House of the Devil, Wendigo, Stake Land, and the film The Transfiguration, is teaming up with The Museum of Modern Art for an exploration of his contribution to the world of film. Titled “Oh, The Humanity! The Films of Larry Fessenden & Glass Eye Pix”, the event will run from March 30th through April 19, 2022, featuring 26 feature films, shorts, and oddities in theaters and online. Glass Eye Pix, the New York independent production shingle headed by art-horror auteur Larry Fessenden, is pleased to announce that a retrospective of 26 feature films along with numerous shorts, animations, and early works created during its 37 years of operation, is being presented by The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) March 30 through April 19. Lightbulb Film Distribution has just released the UK theatrical poster and the trailer for the new coming-of-age indie horror film, We’re All Going To The World’s Fair, which is coming to UK cinemas on April 29th, following its World premiere at Sundance, and screenings at Fantasia and Grimmfest where it made its UK premiere. Grace (Scout Taylor-Compton of Rob Zombie’s Halloween remakes) decides to rediscover her roots by making a return to the southern hometown her parents, whom she has never met, called home. Along for the ride is her boyfriend Jack (Nolan Gerard Funk) and ride they do as they arrive to the homestead in a haze of droning music, aerial shots, and dissolves that’ll have you screamin’ “The Shining did it!” in a New York fuckin’ second. Once at the remote homestead where they will be staying, our heroes begin to realize they are the targets of an evil, animal skull and robe wearing cult, and they seem to be none to pleased at the couples intrusion… but Grace’s past may have more ties to the mysterious group than she can ever imagine! After a suitably bananas intro featuring Troma Team head honcho Lloyd Kaufman we are whisked away to “sometime in the near future”, and thus begins the Blu-ray edition of 1987’s Surf Nazis Must Die! After a cataclysmic earthquake, California’s beaches are run by rival gangs, but all are ruled by the Surf Nazi’s fronted by egomaniacal psychopath/former economics major Adolf (a completely scene devouring Barry Brenner) and his second-in-command, Mengele (Michael Sonye, a.k.a. Dukey Flyswatter; punk singer and ’80s exploitation flick regular). Things don’t remain aces for that ghoulish gang for long as they soon take their mischief up a notch when they murder an oil worker named Leroy (Robert Harden)… which sets his mother Elanor (Gail Neely) on a revenge-filled rampage… after she escapes her nursing home! Horror distributor Devilworks has just announced the March release date for the supernatural horror The Occupant. Written and directed by Samuel Krebs, the filmmaker behind the true-story-inspired film The Whooper Returns, The Occupant follows four estranged siblings, who find themselves in the grip of demonic possession, after inheriting their family home. When an eccentric stranger arrives, claiming the house was left to her, they start experiencing strange, inexplicable manifestations, which have malevolent effects on everyone in the house. A new clip from the supernatural horror comedy Jethica is here ahead of its World Premiere at this month’s SXSW. In the clip two friends argue over the identity of a man behaving strangely. Is it Kevin? In the film, hiding out in New Mexico after a freak accident, Elena runs into Jessica, an old friend from high school. When Jessica’s stalker suddenly shows up at their door, they must seek help from beyond the grave to get rid of him, for good. The film marks the third feature from Pete Ohs, one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 2013 ‘25 New Faces of Independent Film’ and co-director of the award-winning Julia Garner lead sci-fi fable Everything Beautiful Is Far Away.
