New Vampire Film ‘Kicking Blood’ Treats Vampires Like Addicts (Trailer)

The stunning new poster and trailer for the dark vampire film Kicking Blood is here and it treats the red stuff like an addiction. In the film, which premiered last year at TIFF,“ Alanna Bale stars as a modern-day vampire who falls for a charming recovering alcoholic and resolves to quit drinking blood and become human again.” Bale stars alongside Luke Bilyk, Ella Jonas Farlinger, Vinessa Antoine, Rosemary Dunsmore, and Ben Sutherland. But for our protagonist, Anna, the emptiness, loneliness, and

DVD Review: Alone With You (2021)

Charlie (Emily Bennett, who also co-wrote and directed this picture along with Justin Brooks) is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her paramour, photographer Simone (Emma Myles) to their Brooklyn apartment after an extended absence. As she awaits, Charlie wanders the apartment, alone, for extended periods of oddly indeterminable time. As the hands of the clock pass, our heroine passes the time via video messaging with her party hardy friend, as well as arguing with her bible-nut mother (Re-animator and From Beyond‘s Barbara Crampton) over the sinfulness of her lifestyle choices (also on computer screen… it’s apparent from the beginning that this film is both Covid-19 metaphor in some respects, as well as being filmed during the pandemic). Of course, this being a fright flick of sorts, Charlie also begins having blood drenched hallucinations and hearing strange voices and screaming coming from the vents… how does this relate to our protagonists’ mental health, and can she piece together why these events

Kiwi Horror Comedy ‘Buzz Cut’ Sees A Group Bee Hunted By A Killer (Trailer)

The genre-specialized company Black Mandala presents New Zealand’s slasher Buzz Cut, a horror and comedy that’s cheeky and politically incorrect, which also pays homage to the most hardcore slasher movies. Plastic dolls, stoner children and a lot of beer are some of the ingredients of this story that reminds us of Peter Jackson’s Bad Taste (but without aliens). Of course, there’s no shortage of pretty girls, nudity, and a bloody maniac. In the kiwi film, the Hash House Harriers (“a drinking club with a running problem”) encounter a killer Bee Keeper in a crazy Kiwi horror-comedy that is part Animal House and part 80’s slasher movie. The film stars Phoenix Cross, Donna Wilkes, Benjamin Hudson, Zoë Helen Boyle, Ashton Brown and horror icon Linnea Quigley (The Return of the Living Dead, Night of the Demons). Martin Renner, Donna Wilkes produce with Michael Kraetzer, Nicolás Onetti, and Dale Rees serving as associate producers.
