Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement‘s 2014 horror-comedy What We Do in the Shadows was an instant hit. Now, their two new spinoff series are headed our way and we can’t wait to sink our teeth into them. The “What We Do in the Shadows” 10-episode series is set to premiere next Spring on FX, but first it’s coming to NYCC next month, on Sunday, October 7th to be exact. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with executive producers Clement, Waititi and Paul Simms. The series, set in Staten Island. “What We Do in the Shadows” follows three vampires who have been roommates for hundreds and hundreds of years. The other spinoff, titled “Wellington Paranormal“, which follows the police officers we met in the film played by Mike Minogue and Karen O’Leary. Nick (Cori Gonzalez-Macuer) will also be featured in the series as the duo struggles to protect Wellington safe from supernatural forces.

Jason Golberg, the co-creator of prank series “Punk’d”, makes his directorial debut with Afraid, starring “The Walking Dead’s” Alanna Masterson and George Byrne. The film opens with a screen filled with twelve security channels. This where I should explain that the entire film is shown from security camera feeds inside and outside of a remote cabin, which often leaves the cast’s faces blurry. After the couple arrives we learn that Masterson’s character has chosen a college overseas and her boyfriend (Byrne) is trying everything in his power to stop her from leaving, which comes across in my opinion as pathetic, not romantic. He’s way too desperate. Throughout the movie we see computer screens of phone numbers be cloned and someone messaging Masterson’s character uncovering some bad deeds she has committed. When someone begins to leave messages on the walls of her room and stalk the couple the action begins (if that’s what you want to call it). We only get

Blumhouse’s new horror flick Thriller gives off a major Prom Night meets Scream vibe in its first trailer, all while reminding us of the 70’s horror we love so much. The 70’s were a great decade, giving us classic films like Prom Night, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Exorcist, each having the same type of feel and look. An introverted young man named Chauncey Page is sent to juvenile detention after he accidentally kills a member of a group of bullies after they play a cruel prank on him. Four years later he is back and he’s out for revenge. Jason Woods stars alongside Fences actor Mykelti Williamson and rapper turned actor RZA. Jessica Allain, Luke Tennie, Tequan Richmond, page Hurd, Chelsea Rendon, and Mitchell Edwards, Deadline reports. Divide/Conquer are producing the film written and directed by Dallas Jackson. The new trailer for Halloween is shot as if it is from a crime documentary and we’re digging it. It’s fitting, seeing that the David Gordan Green-directed movie features a documentary crew working making a feature about the masked killer. “Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.” “A British documentary crew comes to the States to visit Michael in prison for a retrospective of the maniac’s night of terror — but their project becomes way more interesting when Myers escapes custody, retrieves his signature mask and seeks revenge on Laurie, with others naturally being part of his impressive career body count along the way. In the decades following the fateful Halloween night that forever altered the former babysitter’s life, Laurie has armed and prepped herself for Michael’s inevitable return — to the detriment of her family, including

The first look at the Child’s Play remake is here and one thing is for sure, ole Chucky looks like a brand new doll. Filming has already begun on the remake from MGM and Orion, directed by Lars Klevberg. It will feature a new take on the killer doll that we all know and love. How different will the remake be? Not only does Chucky look different, but he will also sound different since Brad Dourif, who has long voiced the possessed doll, won’t be voicing the new version. Chucky‘s getting an upgrade. It’s been said that there will be robotic aspects to the doll which may be hacked and made to kill. Here’s another thing, creator, writer, and director Don Mancini has ZERO to do this flick. It will also have nothing to do with the original franchise which is still alive and well. Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury 2) wrote the script for the remake starring Aubrey Plaza
