David Gordon Green, known for his new Halloween trilogy, has just wrapped filming on his new take of the horror classic, The Exorcist, which is the first of a new trilogy. Green is directing the new sequel to The Exorcist for Universal, Blumhouse, and Morgan Creek, which is set to open in theaters this October. It was announced a few months ago that Ellen Burstyn will be reprising her role as Chris MacNeil, the mother in the original 1973 movie. But she’s not the only one from the original returning. News has now come that Linda Blair, who played the possessed young girl Regan in the original, will also have a part in the new film. Blair starred in the classic, the sequel, and the 1990 parody film Repossessed, starring alongside Leslie Nielsen. The cast of the film includes Leslie Odom Jr. and Raphael Sbarge (“Monster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story.”), Olivia Marcum, Ann Dowd (Hereditary), and Lidya Jewett (Netflix’s Nightbooks)

Tommy Wiseau, the writer-director-producer of 2003’s cult classic The Room, described by many as “the worst movie ever made,” is back with the creature feature Big Shark, whose trailer has just arrived. It is wild, looking like a cross between a boxing movie and Sharknado without the tornadoes. Variety describes the plot: “Three firefighters – George, Patrick & Tim – must save New Orleans from a gigantic shark. Can New Orleans survive?” The large ensemble cast includes Erica Mary Gillheeney, Tommy Wiseau, Greg Sestro, Joseph Poliquin, Ashton Leigh, and Kaleb Naquin. Big Shark swims into select theaters on April 2, 2023.

Horror in the High Desert 2: Minerva Writer/director Dutch Marich follows up his 2021 feature Horror in the High Desert — which I haven’t seen yet —with Horror in the High Desert 2: Minerva. This sequel finds police and first responders in Cyprus, Nevada, dealing with the murder of a woman named Minerva (Solveig Helene), who had lived in a trailer in a remote area while studying geology and mining. Reporter Gal Roberts (Suziey Block) tries to uncover the facts behind this mysterious case, including following a series of communications between Minerva and her friend Cathy (Sami Sallaway) in New York. The faux documentary then turns to the nighttime roadside disappearance of a woman named Ameliana (Brooke Bradshaw) and the eerie bodycam footage of EMT Luke Wells’ (David Nichols Jr.) search in the desert and through an abandoned building for her. Marich does a superb job of recreating the authentic feel of a missing persons documentary and of giving the

First announced in 2017, director Adam Randall’s intense thriller I See You has just made its debut on Netflix, and people are loving it! In the 2019 film, “A policeman and his doctor wife have marriage problems, and the son blames the mother. For his job, the policeman investigates a case of a missing boy. The possible kidnapping looks like some cases from a few years ago. When two phroggers enter the house, things go off the rails. “Phrogging is the act of secretly living in someone’s home or property without their knowledge and/or consent. The person who does the phrogging is called a phrogger, typically one who has nowhere else to live.” I See You is filled with multiple twists and realizations that will shock you. Many of you grew up in an era where you eagerly waited all week to walk the isle of Blockbuster, hunting down the perfect movie to watch. And if you’re like me, you were crushed when stores started shutting down, thanks to Netflix. Well, something strange is happening. Suddenly, Blockbuster’s social media accounts and website are coming back to life. If you head to the website, you see the company’s logo and will read the message “We are working on rewinding your movie,” which goes back to the old motto “Be Kind Rewind.” For those who don’t get it, it refers to rewinding VHS tapes before you would return them to stores. Blockbuster opened in 1985 with 6,000 stores nationwide featuring over 8,000 VHS tapes each before converting to DVD. Unfortunately, they could not compete with Netflix. Now, only one store remains. Who you gonna call? The Ghostbusters are back for the fourth movie, a direct sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Some of the plot details have just surfaced. Here’s what we know so far. The plot goes like this: “After the events in Oklahoma, the Ghostbusters team returns to where it all started; New York City! The Spengler family story continues with a new group of Ghostbusters led by Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) and Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd).” Dan Aykroyd and Earnie Hudson aren’t the only past Ghostbusters returning for the franchise’s fourth installment. Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard are putting on proton backs for the second time. Paul Rudd, Patton Oswald, and Carrie Coon are also back. Bayview Entertainment’s newest acquisition is the trues story-inspired horror film Bliss of Evil from director Josh Morris (Status Quo). In the film, a sound engineer is forced to confront her past trauma when she and her girlfriend’s grunge band are trapped in a recording studio by a mysterious killer. Sharnee Tones (The Pit), Jordan Shulte (The Big Move), and Michaela Da Costa (The Reef: Stalked) star in Bliss of Evil, written by Corrie Hinschen and Josh Morris. Bliss of Evil is set to be released later this year from Bayview Entertainment. While we have to wait for the release date to be announced, we do have the first trailer that teases a bloody and action-packed slasher. Check it out below.
