Director Yorgos Lanthimos, behind the films The Lobster and The Killing of A Sacred Deer, is back with humor-laced, Frankenstein inspired film Poor Things, whose trailer has just arrived, giving us a look at Emma Stone‘s (The Help) character Bella.
The film also stars brilliant actors Williem Defoe (The Lighthouse) and Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers)
Poor Things centers on Bella, brought back to life by a scientist (Defoe), as she “runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.”
Based on the novel of the same by Alasdair Grey, Poor Things will open in theaters on September 8, 2023, from Searchlight Pictures.
