Netflix Review: Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight Is Basic At Best

I had heard good things about writer-director Bartosz M. Kowalski’s new horror film Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight so I decided to give it a try. The movie centers on a group of teens who have been sent to a remote camp in the woods because of their addiction to technology, phones, computers, gaming, YouTube, etc… Of course, when you take a bunch of teens into the woods on a camping trip things are bound to go wrong. When a cannibal killer discovers the group he begins picking them off one by one. If imitation is the biggest form of flattery, then this movie is a love letter to slashers. What I saw was a mishmash of bits of and ideas from horror classics, including Friday the 13th, Wrong Turn, Scream, Hatchet, Tucker and Dale vs Evil, and more. And It’s filled to the brim with basic horror troupes. Every character is right out of the horror handbook, a

We May Actually Be Getting A Sequel To ‘Killer Klowns From Outer Space”

After years of rumors, we may be actually getting a sequel to the 1988 horror comedy Killer Klowns From Outer Space! During a discussion with ComicBook.com about his Netflix film Alien Xmas, Stephen Chiodo talked about his and his brother’s (Charles Chiodo) classic, saying that the brother duo is currently in talks with Netflix about making a Kill Klowns sequel. We are talking to them. We’re talking all the time. Get this: we’ve been trying to do a sequel (Killer Klowns From Outer Space) since we made the film and fans get angry with us. We don’t mention it too much, because they get angry. They say, ‘Oh, what’s the matter with you guys?’ But we’re trying. The business is just a bear, moves at a glacial pace. There’s interest, and it wanes and flows. You get some executives who really want to do it, then, all of a sudden, musical chairs. They’re out, a new regime is in, and

First Look: A Blind Woman Is The Victim Of A Home Invasion In “See For Me”

We’ve got the first image from the home invasion horror-thriller See For Me, from director Randall Okita and writers Adam Yorke and Tommy Gushue. “The film follows blind teenager Sophie who is house-sitting at a secluded mansion which comes under attack from thieves seeking a hidden safe. Her only means of defense is an i-phone app called See for Me which connects her to Kelly, a veteran and volunteer across the country who spends her days playing first-person shooter games online and who now must see on Sophie’s behalf.” Visually impaired actress Skyler Davenport stars in her first leading film role, adding realism to the film that also stars “Sons of Anarchy” actor Kim Coates, Jessica Parker Kennedy (“The Flash”), Laura Vandervoort (“Smallville”), George Tchortov Joe Pingue, and Pascal Langdale. See For Me, inspired by a real app, is currently in post-production. The film joins the emerging new sub-genre of horror we like to call “Speak No Evil (A Quiet

Movie Review: The Oak Room (Popcorn Frights Wicked Weekend)

Canadian feature The Oak Room is a lean, gripping, dark thriller with horror overtones that celebrates the art of storytelling. Its settings are two closed bars in isolated locations on bitterly cold nights with snowstorms, with each bar story set a week apart. Prodigal son Steve (RJ Mitte) returns to his hometown after not bothering to do so for his father Gordon’s (Nicholas Campbell) funeral, and receives an unwelcoming reception from Gordon’s bartender buddy Paul (Peter Outerbridge). Paul has been saving Gordon’s ashes in a fishing tackle box, but he is not about to turn them over to Steve until the drifter son pays off a monetary debt. Steve tries to bargain to settle up with a story instead of cash, which kicks off the second tale set in another bar in which a stranger (Martin Roach) seeks a few minutes of shelter from an equally unwelcoming barkeep (Ari Millen). Peter Genoway’s screenplay unfolds at a tantalizing pace, slowly revealing

Movie Review: Flay (2019)

Patricia (Peggy Schott) is one of those long sufferin’ artist types, but her problems are going to expand 666-fold as she acquires a cursed chain (which has been around since those days of covered wagons and rampant dysentery) which ends up resulting in a serious case of the deaths for anyone unlucky enough to come in possession of those loathsome links! Can Pat get her shit together and end the curse? Special effects wizard turned director Eric Pham and screenwriter Matthew Daley, aren’t exactly re-inventing the wicked wheel with Flay; this is your typical ancient curse causes mayhem in the modern day yarn at it’s heart… but goddamn do they manage to keep things fresh! To wit: the way the curse spreads here is rather inventive, as the links of the chain (which were given that ol’ wild whammy by an imprisoned Native American shaman) give anyone that touches them a permanent bad day, and since our heroine has utilized
