Italian Witch Series “Luna Nera” Will Soon Cast Its Spell On Netflix

Netflix has revealed that its third Italian original will premiere in just a few days. Titled “Luna Nera” (Black Moon), the series is rooted in history and centers on a group of Italian women accused of witchcraft in the 17th century. “Luna Nera” marks the first Italian series entirely written and directed by women, which should give it a unique perspective. Set in the Roman countryside during the Inquisition as well as the scientific revolution, the six-episode series is based on “Luna Nera”, a series of books written by Tiziana Triana that draws inspiration from real 17th-century witch hunts, trials, and executions. At the center of the series is Ade, a 16-year-old midwife who is accused of witchcraft following the death of a newborn. She flees into the forest where she finds refuge with a family of witches. But she is heartbroken by the fact that she is in love with the young son of the leader of the witch

Movie Review: Teacher Shortage (2020)

Ten years ago, a bullied student kills herself in the school bathroom with a lil’ jagged glass to the throat routine… Fast forward a decade, and at said institution, that alliterative muv-fuck Sue Steel (Debra Lamb) is throwing her annual shindig for her peers in Ye Olde English Department at her pad. Things are a bit strained at the soiree for sure… but shit is going to be a tad more tense right quick, as a maniac has crashed the party, and that right bastard is lugging around a yearbook from ten years previous! The main thing Teacher Shortage has going for it is writer/director Troy Escamilla’s love of ’80s slasher flicks (which also provides us with a negative as well, but we’ll get to that shit in due time boils n’ ghouls)… my dude digs on the genre the most, and it shows… it also gives the film a great deal of heart, which goes a loooong way with

From writer-director Carlo Mirabella-Davis comes the twisted film Swallow, which depicts a woman with a dangerous mental illness, desperate to regain control of her life. On the surface, Hunter (Haley Bennett) appears to have it all. A newly pregnant housewife, she seems content to spend her time tending to an immaculate home and doting on her Ken-doll husband, Richie (Austin Stowell). However, as the pressure to meet her controlling in-laws and husband’s rigid expectations mounts, cracks begin to appear in her carefully created facade. Hunter develops a dangerous habit, and a dark secret from her past seeps out in the form of a disorder called pica – a condition that has her compulsively swallowing inedible, and oftentimes life-threatening, objects. Movie Reviews (Horror-on-Sea Film Festival): Day of the Stranger; Millennial Killer; One Must Fall

Day of the Stranger Fans of Weird West films (such as Billy the Kid Versus Dracula [1966] and Curse of the Undead [1959]) and psychedelic westerns (for example, High Plains Drifter [1970]) should find plenty to enjoy in ultralow-budget U.K. outing Day of the Stranger. Advertised as “the only British guerilla-shot acid western ever made,” this film from writer/director Thomas Lee Rutter (Bella in the Wych Elm short [2017]; The Forbidden Four [2012]) delivers a haunting, surreal vision that begins as a boisterous, brutal take on western tropes before going into full-on phantasmagorical territory. Bounty hunter Caine Farrowood (Dale Sheppard) is under the employ of sadistic outlaw Loomweather (Gary Shail of The Bride [1985] and Shock Treatment [1981]) when things go south after a job and he finds himself on the edge of death. He then awakens to find himself at home with his pregnant wife Christina (Maryam Forouhandeh), who disapproves of his work. He soon heads out on a

Blu-ray Review: ‘Snatchers’ Is A Goretastic Horror Comedy You Need To See

“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided with a free copy of the Blu-ray™ I reviewed in this post. The opinions I share are my own.” What’s worse than being a teen and finding out you’re pregnant? Being a teen finding out that you are pregnant with an alien hellbent on wiping out the human race. That’s what happens in Snatchers, from the writing/directing duo of Stephen Cedars and Benji Kleiman. Picture it, senior year and you’ve finally gotten in with the cool kids. Sara (Mary Nepi) thinks everything is going great, but things suddenly take a horrific turn the morning after she loses her virginity to teen hunk Skyler (Austin Fryberger). When she wakes she is shocked to find that she’s not only pregnant but looks like she’s due to give birth any minute. The only person she thinks of to turn to is her ex-BFF, the same one she dumped for the cool kids. Luckily, Hayley (Gabrielle Elyse) still cares.

Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Red 11’ Getting A Summer Release

Last year we reported that filmmaker Robert Rodriguez was returning to his roots and making a movie with the budget of just $7000, the same budget he had for his breakout film El Mariachi. The film, titled Red 11, was inspired by the medical experiments Rodriguez went through himself to raise the money for El Mariachi thirty years ago. The film is set “in the dark, twisted world of legal drug research. College kids turn lab rats to make quick money. The pic’s protagonist Rob (who is assigned the color and number Red 11), is trying to buy his way out of a huge debt to the tune of $7K. But things get surreal when he’s not sure if the hospital is really trying to kill him, or if it’s the side effects from the experimental drugs.” Rodriguez wrote the script with his son Racer, based on the original script Robert wrote in the ’90s. Since Red 11 made its
