Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streamer for horror, thriller, and the supernatural, announced today its “Summer of Chills” slate of twelve new original and exclusive films for June, July, and August, including the anticipated debut of landmark horror director George A. The wait is over, the final trailer for John Krasinski‘s highly anticipates A Quiet Place: Part II is here, giving us a glimpse of how it all began and the harsh realities of the new world. Part II finds the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) now facing the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path. Movie Review: ‘Why?’ Left Me Asking ‘Why?’

Why? that’s the new film from director Corbin Timbrook. I’ve got some thoughts, so bear with me as I try my best to express them properly in this review. Starring Natasha Henstridge (Species), Emma Bell (“The Walking Dead”), and genre staple Lance Henriksen (Aliens), Why? could best be described as a slasher. The story centers on a writer who takes off to a rental cabin, where she will stay until her boyfriend arrives a few days later not knowing she is being stalked by a killer. Where to start? You could say that some of the acting was decent (sometimes). But that’s about as far as the compliments are going to go in this review. Sorry. Here’s my problem with Why?, the entire time I was watching this movie I kept feeling like I have seen it before, then I realized, I had, sort of. Movie Review: ‘Undergods’

Chino Moya makes his directorial debut with Undergods, an anthology with a unique style of its own, is out this May from Gravitas Ventures. The official synopsis goes like this, “in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic world, K and Z roam the streets on the lookout for corpses and something even more valuable – fresh meat.” Several families linked by common elements. Undergods is laid out as stories told either by the two men or a father weaving a tale for his daughter at bedtime. While we learn much about the families, we only get glimpses into the post-apocalyptic world which I wish we would have learned more about. The bleak film is about family more than anything but not as you would expect. Most of the families are in turmoil and have elements of oppression, depression, and infidelity. Each segment comes off a bit strange, slow, and we are given no reason to feel empathy for the characters, they’re just unlikeable,

Fantaspoa 2021 Announces Its Award Winners

Brazilian genre-film festival Fantaspoa celebrated its second year online with a tantalizing selection of horror, science fiction, thriller, and other exciting movies, as the fest’s 2021 awards affirm. Following is the official press announcement for Fantaspoa’s wrap-up of its 2021 edition. The seventeenth edition of Fantaspoa was again a landmark for the long-running Brazilian genre festival. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Latin America’s largest genre film festival celebrated its second online edition, with free access within Brazil to all festival content. In total, 160 films from over 40 countries were exhibited, including 57 features and 103 shorts. The massive virtual event took place from April 9th through 18th on the Brazilian streaming platform, Wurlak — and the festival proudly presented fourteen masterclasses along with 29 Q&As with filmmakers from around the globe.
