Ahead of her return to the Scream franchise in next year’s movie simply titled Scream, Courtney Cox is set to star in the recently-announced horror-comedy series “Shining Vale,” which has now received a series order from Starz. And we’ve got the first image (via Bloody-Disgusting). “Shining Vale” centers on a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town, not knowing their new home was the site of terrible atrocities. But no one seems to notice except for Pat, who’s convinced she’s either depressed or possessed— turns out, the symptoms are exactly the same. The eight-episode first season is from Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan also stars Greg Kinnear as Pat’s sweet husband, Terry; Mira Sorvino plays the role of Rosemary, Pat’s alter ego; Gus Birney and Dylan Gage play Pat and Terry’s kids. Suki Waterhouse (The Bad Batch, Assassination Nation) is set to star as the protagonist in Simon Barrett‘s horror directorial debut, Seance, EW reports. “Seance is a murder mystery set at a girls boarding school where a young woman recently died,” says Simon Barrett. “Our hero moves into her dorm room, which is believed to be haunted, and sets about trying to find out what happened.” “She was the first person who signed on,” Barrett states. “I was looking at Suki originally to play Alice — the bully, the leader of the girls at the school. I thought of Camille as an underdog. Suki is a model, she has such a striking look, I was not certain how that would work. Then I sat down and talked with her for like three hours, and she had an interesting take on Camille and totally got the jokes in the film. She honestly was the only person who thought the script was funny.

As she grows older and builds a good life with her husband, when she becomes pregnant the voices become louder, wanting their souls to be chosen to become her baby’s. Ahead of its release, we sat down with the oh-so-talented lead actress Rose Williams to discuss the film (which we gave a glowing review), its making, and its important messages. Rose, who has also starred in films such as Curfew, A Quiet Passion, Misfits, and the Netflix original series “Medici,” absolutely nailed her role in The Power, delivering a powerful and emotional performance that left me impressed. As they prepare for the lights to go out, Val’s anxiety begins to build we see the nurse walk the halls and tend to patients with only a lamp to light her way. It doesn’t take long for strange things to begin to happen. Blackouts and spells that contort her body to plague her as the hospital’s dark secret begin to come to light. The hospital setting is spooky enough all on its own but when the lights go out the tension builds and things escalate quickly. Sam Raimi and director Corin Hardy (The Nun) are teaming up for the new horror movie Every House is Haunted, Deadline is reporting. The Netflix movie was penned by Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman, the writing team behind Project Almanac, and is based on Ian Rogers’ short story The House on Ashley Avenue. Every House is Haunted centers on an insurance investigator who tries to debunk claims that a couple’s death was caused by a haunted house, but his doubts are challenged by a psychic and the mysterious occurrences he witnesses with his own eyes. Genre legend Sam Raimi will be producing under his Raimi Productions banner along with Roy Lee under his Vertigo Entertainment. Vertigo’s Andrew Childs will be executive producing. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more. While you wait, be sure to check out Raimi’s supernatural horror The Unholy, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, opening in theaters this weekend, from Sony Pictures.
