In 2002 fans of the movie The Thing where able to partake in a new chapter of the film’s universe by playing the 3rd person survival horror game, ‘The Thing’ where players take on the role of Captain Blake, a Special Forces soldier sent in with a rescue team to find survivors at the doomed U.S. Outpost 31 from John Carpenter’s film. Long story short, the events of the film and this game were part of some nefarious plot by a Biotechnology company called Gen-Inc who has subterranean research facilities all around Antarctica studying the alien organism in which a certain strain of the “Virus” was developed to be used in Biological Warfare. The game surprisingly did very well in the ratings and in 2003 the game’s developing company, Computer Artworks, were in the works to make a sequel to the game picking up where it left off, Blake flying off in a helicopter with R.J. While Universal Studios’s Dark Universe seems to be in limbo after their reboot of The Mummy didn’t receive the love the studio expected, but that doesn’t mean that no one else can’t take a stab at our favorite classic monster tales. Variety is reporting that the UK series ‘The Frankenstein Chronicles’ will be coming to the US via Netflix. While the series has only released six episodes to date the deal gives Netflix the chance to expand the show. Set in London in 1827, the re-imagining of Mary Shelly’s beloved novel stars ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Sean Bean as John Marlott, a war veteran, and policeman, as he investigates a corpse, found made from the parts of children. Intangled in the case are established figures and demonic forces.

‘Stranger Things’ fans watched as actor Finn Wolfhard went head to head with Pennywise earlier this year in the new adaption of Stephen King’s It. Now, the talented young actor has signed on for upcoming horror film The Turning from director Floria Sigismondi. In the film, inspired by the novella “The Turning of the Screw”, the 14-year-old will play the role of an orphan. Production is expected to begin early next year. But don’t worry, we’ll see Wolfhard again in the next season of ‘Strangers Things’. In the 1898 story that was originally printed in Collier’s Weekly, a young governess has been hired to look after and teach a young brother and sister who live in a sprawling gothic mansion. Soon the governess begins to see two spirits who she believes are after the children. By the end of the tale readers and critics were left wondering if the spirits existed or if it was all in the governess’ head.

Fans of Netflix’s hit series ‘Stranger Things’ are asking when the show’s third season will premier. In a recent interview with Variety David Harbour, who plays Chief Hopper, broke the news that it will be a while before we see season three and it’s going to leave fans disappointed. Harbour, who is set to play Hellboy in the upcoming film from Neil Marshall, told the site that filming for the next season won’t begin until April. This means that we probably won’t see the season 3 premiere until 2019. Harbour stated that good things take time, but I’m sure that’s not much comfort to those who immediately wanted more as soon as the finished binge-watching season two and instantly want more.

Pop has ordered a new half-hour horror-comedy series, ‘The Demons of Dorian Gunn’. The series will be executive produced by ‘Jessica Jones’ actress Krysten Ritter, Lilly Burns and Jax Media’s Tony Hernandez, Deadline is reporting. The series is set to begin production this January in New York City and centers on a disgraced socialite named Dorian Gunn who learns that he descends from a long line of demon hunters. He is forced to leave his life of leisure to protect humanity from the monsters emerging from the gates of hell. At the moment no cast has been announced but we will be on the lookout for announcements.

The ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ series, originally developed for the CW, has received a straight-to-series order at Netflix. The series has already been green-lighted for two-seasons and 20-episodes to start off with, according to Deadline. The show, based on the graphic novel ‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’, is from the team behind ‘Riverdale’, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Berlanti Productions, and Warner Bros. Television. Aquirre-Sacasa penned the script for the pilot which Lee Toland Krieger directed. Unlike the ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ that aired from ’96 to 2003, this series will be a dark drama mixed with horror and is an origin story in which Sabrina finds herself wrestling with her duel-nature, half witch, half human. While Sabrina is trying to find her way she will fight the evil force that threatens her and her family. Aguirre-Sacasa, Krieger, and Berlanti Productions will executive produce the series along with Sarah Schechter and Jon Goldwater of Archie Comics.

The German series is already receiving a lot buzz ahead of its December debut. ‘Dark’ hails from the duo of Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, the team behind 2014’s hacker mystery ‘Who Am I – No System is Safe.’ The show’s most recent trailer teases that a supernatural source may be the cause of a rash of animal deaths and be connected to the disappearance of two young children.
