The CW Orders New Pilot For ‘The Lost Boys’ Series

Last year The CW scrapped the Catherine Hardwicke directed pilot for its new series “The Lost Boys“. This week the network order the new retooled pilot directed by Marcos Siega, who also helmed the pilots for CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” and Batwoman Deadline reports. The new version of the series, based on the 1987 classic, will have an all-new cast and will not feature original Lost Boys cast members Medalion Rahimi and Dakota Shapiro like the first version of the series planned. Rob Thomas, who co-wrote the new script, explained to Deadline the reason for the retooling. “There were scenes that we thought we could do a better job on, so it’s going through a 40% rewrite,” he said. “It’s not a total rewrite.” No cast members have been announced for the pilot as of yet.

“Age Of The Living Dead” Season Two Bares Its Fangs This Autumn

Dystopian Films has announced that productions have wrapped on the second season of the dystopian vampire series “Age of the Living Dead” following the three-month shoot in Toronto, LA, and London. The series is set in the near-future where vampires and humans are trapped in the United States behind border walls. The international production outfit, headed by Ken Bressers, Simon Phillips and Paul Tanter, also recently wrapped Stealing Chaplin, a darkly comic neo-noir about a pair of con men who steal the corpse of Charlie Chaplin. The series stars Nicola Posener (Mythica), Bill Oberst Jr (3 From Hell, interview), Deji LaRay (Bosch), William McNamara (Copycat), Peter Barrett (White Collar Hooligan), Peter Woodward (The Patriot), Simon Phillips (No Easy Days), and Julia Farino (Veep). “Age of the Living Dead” season 2 will premiere in the Autumn of 2020 on Amazon Prime in the US and the UK, and on Fox Action movies in Asia. Fiona Dourif Joins The Cast of “The Stand”

Fiona Dourif, who starred in both Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky, has joined the cast of CBS All Access’ upcoming adaptation of “The Stand.” Dourif revealed during a talk with Syfy that she will be playing the role of “Rat Woman,” a new take on the Stephen King character “Rat Man” who was played by Rick Aviles in the original miniseries. I’m playing Rat Man…do you guys remember Rat Man? Rat Man is now Rat Woman,” Dourif told Syfy. “I read the books and watched the miniseries. Italian Witch Series “Luna Nera” Will Soon Cast Its Spell On Netflix

Netflix has revealed that its third Italian original will premiere in just a few days. Titled “Luna Nera” (Black Moon), the series is rooted in history and centers on a group of Italian women accused of witchcraft in the 17th century. “Luna Nera” marks the first Italian series entirely written and directed by women, which should give it a unique perspective. Set in the Roman countryside during the Inquisition as well as the scientific revolution, the six-episode series is based on “Luna Nera”, a series of books written by Tiziana Triana that draws inspiration from real 17th-century witch hunts, trials, and executions. At the center of the series is Ade, a 16-year-old midwife who is accused of witchcraft following the death of a newborn. She flees into the forest where she finds refuge with a family of witches. Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Red 11’ Getting A Summer Release

Last year we reported that filmmaker Robert Rodriguez was returning to his roots and making a movie with the budget of just $7000, the same budget he had for his breakout film El Mariachi. The film, titled Red 11, was inspired by the medical experiments Rodriguez went through himself to raise the money for El Mariachi thirty years ago. The film is set “in the dark, twisted world of legal drug research. College kids turn lab rats to make quick money. The pic’s protagonist Rob (who is assigned the color and number Red 11), is trying to buy his way out of a huge debt to the tune of $7K. HBO has unveiled the first teaser for “The Undoing” from Academy and Emmy Award-winning director of The Night Manager, Susanne Bier, and the Emmy Award-Winning creator of “Big Little Lies”, David E. Kelley. In the limited series, starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, following a violent death and chain of terrible revelations, Grace (Kidman) is horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice. Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child (Noah Jupe) and her family. Donald Sutherland and Edgar Ramirez also star in “The Undoing“, directed by Bier and written by Kelley, who also serves as showrunner. Susanne Bier, David E. Blu-ray Review: Mon Mon Mon Monsters

Writer-director Giddens Ko’s Mon Mon Monsters is set to be released this February and I’m here to give you my thoughts on it. Eugenie Liu (“Behind Your Smile”), Pei-Hsin Lin, Carolyn Chen (Attention, Love!), Yu-Kai Deng (Tree in the River), and Kent Tsai (All Because of Love) star. The movie follows a group of teens who catch a man-eating monster and experiment on it. As soon as they figure out that it carries a contagion, they use it as a weapon on anyone the crosses them. These teens are a nightmare. They’re abusive, psychotic, and just plain sadistic assholes throughout the entire movie. There is zero chance that you can find sympathy for them in any way. The “man-eating monsters” in this flick turn out to be the real victims and the humans turn out to be the real monsters. I think we are meant to find pity for one of the boys that have been bullied by the friends

Netflix Announces Movie ‘The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf’

The world of “The Witcher” is growing. Not only has the series been renewed, but Netflix has also greenlit a movie, titled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. Few details have been released, but we do know that “the continent will face a new threat.” We’ve also learned that the film will be anime.” The live-action series’ showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich is attached to the film as well as Beau DeMayo who wrote one of the episodes for the first season. The legendary Studio Mir, who also worked on Voltron: Legendary Defender for Netflix, will animate the movie. There is no word yet if Henry Cavill or other members of “The Witcher’s” cast will lend their voices to the movie, but we hope that they will. We should know more soon.

Dark Secrets Come To Light In The Second Season Of Blumhouse’s “Sacred Lies” (Trailer)

The second season of Blumhouse’s anthology series “Sacred Lives” is gearing up to premiere on Facebook Watch and we’ve got the new trailer. “Sacred Lies: The Singing Bones” draws inspiration from the stories of the Brothers Grimm and real-life murder cases. This season follows Elsie (Jordan Alexander) as she searches for the family she never knew after being abandoned as a child. The search leads her to her father, Peter (Ryan Kwanten), an inmate who may be guilty of more than the crimes he’s currently incarcerated for and Harper (Juliette Lewis), a telemarketer turned arm-chair detective with an obsessive hobby of searching for unidentified murder victims. Kristin Bauer will recur as Elsie’s foster mother, Shannon. The series is produced by Blumhouse Television.
