The Rocky Horror Picture Show, one of the biggest cult classics in history, is getting rebooted by FOX, as a two-hour television event, directed and choreographed by executive producer Kenny Ortega and based on the original cult classic written by Richard O’Brian, who also played the role of Riff Raff. Filming for television event will begin this winter. The special is set to premiere this fall.
Last year it was announced that Leverne Cox will be playing the lead role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, “a sweet transsexual transvestite from Transylvania”. The iconic role was originally played by Tim Curry.
FOX has now announced more cast members. Victoria Justice and Ryan McCartan will play Brad and Janet, lovers stranded in the rain and who stumble upon the manor of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the “velvet darkness of the blackest night”. Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick co-stared in the original roles of the couple. Reeve Canrney will play Riff Raff, Frank-N-Furter’s “faithful handy man”. Model Staz Nair will co-star as Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s boy toy creation Rocky. The roles of Magenta, Columbia, Eddie and Dr. Everett have yet to be announced.
