Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, best known for his breakout film 28 Weeks Later, has signed on to direct Haunted, a film inspired by 1898’s gothic ghost story Turn of the Screw, according to Deadline. The script for the film was penned by Chad and Carey Hayes (The Conjuring). Film legend Steven Spielberg will be serving as Producer for the film.
Turn of the Screw, written by Henry James, follows a young governess and her two young charges. There are dark entities lurking in the estate the children call home. The spirits want to possess the children and claim their souls.
We can expect to see the premiere of Haunted, which serves as both an adaption of the novel and a reboot of the 1992 film Turn of the Screw, some time in 2017.
Fresnadillo is also set to direct the upcoming reboot 1989 of the classic horror film Pet Sematary,
