Universal has already begun putting together their shared universe, which includes remaking all of their classic monster films. The revamp began with 2014’s Dracula Untold. Both The Mummy and Creature from the Black Lagoon are already in the early stages of pre-production. News broke earlier today that The Bride of Frankenstein is now too in the works. And Universal is not eyeing just any starlet for the role, they are aiming for Angelina Jolie, according to THR. There is no word yet who will be writing the screenplay or who will be in the director’s chair, but hopefully we will know more about the film soon.
The original 1935 film, directed by James Whale, starred Boris Karloff as Frankenstein’s monster, one his most famous roles. Elsa Lanchester played the role of the monster’s bride, who did not appear until the film’s final scenes, but with such a famous star cast in the role I’m sure the Bride will have more screen time.
