Movie Review: Mega Time Squad (2018)

Small time hood John (Anton Tennet) is having a shit run of luck; his (crime) boss Shelton (Jonny Brugh) treats him like turd, and he has to vacate the garage he lives in…and mostly everyone he encounters thinks he’s a bit of a nutless wonder. Aiming to prove them wrong, John and his dim pal Gaz (Arlo Gibson) set out to swipe a bundle o’ cash from a gang of Chinese hoods muscling into Shelton’s territory from the antique shop they use as a drop off. In the process he steals a magic time travelling bracelet (as one does), and when he’s ratted out for stealing from the boss he begins making small leaps through time…and assembling a criminal gang of his own…comprised strictly of time displaced versions of himself (who take on the eponymous moniker Mega Time Squad). Speaking of time, will John be able to foster a romance with Shelton’s sister (Hetty Gaskell-Hahn), avoid the Chinese time demon

Blu-ray Review: The Mole People (1956)

After a quick actual science/history lesson we are presented with the unbelievable made-up bullshit mortal men hath named; The Mole People! In “Asia” (by way of some rando California canyon), archaeologists (who’s ranks include Ward Cleaver himself; Hugh Beaumont) are involved in a little soundstage based mountain climbing, a veritable ass-ton of stock footage, and “oh fuck me, when is it ever going to end” spelunking…all of which are pistol-hot to the kids today, before discovering an ornery race of subterranean-dwelling albino Sumerians who keep mole/human hybrids as slaves utilized to harvest their overlord’s primary food source; giant mushrooms (and you thought I was fucking around in that first sentence didn’t ya boils n’ ghouls?). Will our heroes make it back to the surface, or will they meet their end deep under the surface of the Earth? While a bit slow paced at times (especially during the first act), The Mole People is never-the-less an effective tale of high adventure,

Oh Hai Shark… Teaser Trailer for ‘Big Shark’ Excites Fans Of ‘The Room’

Tommy Wiseau is going to be making his horror debut both as director and actor in Big Shark. Wiseau teased the film last night on his twitter with a picture of a poster for the film as well as a link to the teaser trailer. The teaser trailer was actually shown in front of an audience attending a London screening of Wiseau’s well-known film, The Room, a film that’s famous for being so bad it’s good. Wiseau will be accompanied by Greg Sestero and Isaiah LaBorde. Sestero is no stranger working with Wiseau as he played Mark in The Room, where the iconic “Oh hai Mark” scene is from. Sestero later went on to write a book about making the film that was later adapted to screen under the same title The Disaster Artist where James Franco played Wiseau.

Blu-ray Review: Skinner (1993)

Dennis Skinner (Ted Raimi) wades into town (like literally through water…ever hear of a sidewalk chum?) and takes a room in the house of Kerry and Geoff Tate (Ricki Lake and David Warshofsky respectively). Well, Geoff treats Kerry like a shit sandwich and she soon develops a crush on ol’ Skinner…even though he’s weird as balls…and lives up to his name by skinning women and wearing their hides like a Ben Cooper Halloween number, ya dig? Meanwhile, a beautiful and scarred woman named Heidi (Traci Lords) blows into town with a murderous ambition towards Skinner, and an ass-load of drugs as well. How will this sinister scenario play out, and who’ll be left alive and intact at the end of it? Skinner is one hell of a fucked up fright flick! The entire film has an off putting and overly strange vibe (aided by a near comic book style utilization of color and an odd water motif) that is hard

What’s This? Nightmare Before Christmas Is Getting A New Movie?!

Back in 1993, just in time for Halloween, Tim Burton‘s classic The Nightmare Before Christmas opened in theaters and became a classic. Directed by Henry Selick, the stop-animation film featured Fright Night’s Chris Sarandon as the voice of Jack Skellington, the king of Halloween Town. During the movie Jack discovers Christmas Town and decides to put his spin on the holiday, only to fail and realize that he belongs in Halloween Town with Sally. Since the movie achieved cult status, Disney has re-released it several times and even created a ride based on the movie at Disney Land. It’s a bit of a surprise it hasn’t gotten a spin-off or sequel yet, but something is coming according to Moviehole. Moviehole has a credible source that is reporting that Disney is “doing something with Nightmare Before Christmas – probably a sequel but a live-action adaptation is very possible.” Disney has been on a mission to turn their classic animated features into

‘The Dark Tower’ Series Begins Filming This Spring

It feels like every day we are reporting or giving an update on another Stephen King adaptation (not that we are complaining). Today we have an update on Amazon Studios’ upcoming series adaptation of King’s The Dark Tower. According to That Hashtag Show, the series is set to begin production this April in Croatia and will have a 13-episode first season. Casting is still being kept hush, hush at this point but it will be interesting to see who is cast in the roles of Roland and Walter. The 2017 movie starred Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, and while it had King’s support before the PG-13 release, after it opened in theaters he got very quiet. By the end of it, The Dark Tower only scored a mere 16 on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans were let down due to the amount of story that was left out due to time constraints and the way that everything was rushed to try to
