From director Antoine Le comes the based on real events horror thriller Followed (review), written by Todd Klick. “Taking place entirely on a computer screen, the story unfolds as an unseen observer clicks through the video posts of DropTheMike, a controversial ‘vlogger of the macabre.’ When a famous clothing brand offers to sponsor his show if he can gain fifty thousand more subscribers, DropTheMike kicks his vlog into high gear and recruits three friends to do a special Halloween-edition vlog to be held inside the reputably haunted Hotel Lennox in downtown Los Angeles, where several famous serial killers stayed while on their killing sprees and where, more recently, a female tourist’s body was found cooking inside the basement ventilation system. But when sinister things happen to the crew after they play a forbidden ‘elevator ritual’ game, DropTheMike commits himself to figure out if it’s malicious fans of his vlog messing with them, or the hotel’s evil spirits intent on murdering

Movie Review: Followed (2018)

Drop the Mike host…Mike (Matthew Solomon)…I mean what did you expect the dude’s name to be, Aloysius? Anyway, Mike is an annoying vlogger (which is as redundant as saying “wet rain”) who in a desperate grab for the almighty sponsorship dollar decides to spend the night in a hotel with a haunted past, along with his crew. As they settle in, they begin to learn of the sinister secrets that lie within the dread dwelling (including a complete rip-off of the true life case of Elisa Lam). Soon things go completely off the rails as our heroes are subjected to an ever growing preternatural presence that may prove their undoing! On the one hand, Followed has a strong, if well tread, premise…the haunted hotel is a horror trope for a reason; it works! This film does a good job of building the mythology of the place, which adds to the overall sense of world building…which is absolutely essential as this

Short Film Review: The Devil and I (2018)

In Colonial Canada, a woman (Ariel Hansen) with an uneasy lot in life takes some verbal tongue lashin’ from a real son of a bitch of a man (James Kingstone)…a son of a bitch that freezes into a human statue as a large talking dog appears (yeah, sometimes I can’t believe the shit I type for this website either…but trust me, this is actually handled in a completely serious and somber manner). Any way it seems our heroine has been having affair with the man’s wife, and before you can say Son of Sam(uel Adams), that preternatural pup (played by Apollo with voice provided by Jesse Inocalla) gives our protagonist a plan to make things go her way. With it’s unique, period setting and near-fairy tale vibe, The Devil and I is an entertaining slice of short fright flick deviltry. Adding to the overall vibe of the piece are authentic costumes and manners of speaking that reflect the film’s 1800’s

‘Await Further Instructions’ Now In Theaters And On VOD

Combine the techno-paranoia of Black Mirror, add the body horror of John Carpenter’s The Thing, turn them into a VHS board game, and wrap it all up in a bitingly satirical Christmas-movie package, and what do you get? Await Further Instructions from British director Johnny Kevorkian. In Await Further Instructions (review), set on Christmas day, “the Milgram family wake to find a mysterious black substance surrounding their house. Something monumental is clearly happening right outside their door, but what exactly – an industrial accident, a terrorist attack, nuclear war? Descending into terrified arguments, they turn on the television, desperate for any information. On screen, a message glows ominously: ‘Stay Indoors and Await Further Instructions’. As the television exerts an ever more sinister grip, their paranoia escalates into bloody carnage.” Starring David Bradley of Game Of Thrones, Doctor Who, and Harry Potter, the film is now in theaters and on VOD from Dark Sky Films. Sam Gittins, Neerja Naik, and Grant

Go Behind The Scenes With New ‘Dark Resurrection: Keepers Of The Force’ Video

Filming has wrapped on Dark Resurrection: Keepers of the Force, the final chapter of the sci-fi saga loosely based on Star Wars, written and directed by Angelo Licata. The first film, released in 2007, surprised the world and has received compliments from Lucasfilm. Driven by the success of the prequel Dark Resurrection Vol.0, which has generated millions of views on YouTube, and thanks to the donations from fans from all over the world, it has been possible to produce a concluding chapter with a narrative arc so ambitious to make necessary the division of the project in two parts: an illustrated novel and a trailer which conceptually is not dissimilar from a short movie. It’s the most spectacular thing I’ve ever done,” said actor Michael Segal, who plays evil Lord Drown in the movie. Unlike most of our local productions, the action scenes were filmed using cables and special effects that allowed actors to perform stunts worthy of the latest

Movie Review: The Bray Road Beast (2018)

Documentarian of the Cryptids Seth Breedlove is back, and this time he turns his eerie eyeballs an a wicked werewolf legend in The Bray Road Beast! Elkhorn, Wisconsin is a bucolic lil’ town, sleepy, possessed of a small populace…and a red eyed werewolf that can run 55 mph and lives on Bray Road (home to the Bray family, who do not seem like werewolves to me, but I’m no expert at lycanthrope in human form identification)…you know, the usual. Of course as the film digs deeper we learn that this area sits in an area surrounded by strange happenings, outre cults, and that whole Slenderman stabbing incident of a few years back. Of course everyone has a theory as to just what the titular beast is, and all the usual explanations make their appearance; Native american curse, occult summoned hell beast, the aforementioned werewolf theory…regardless of what it is, there are plenty of spooky-ass stories about whatever it is; and

DVD Review: The Witch Files (2018)

Five teen stereotypes; Claire, the nerd (Holly Taylor), the rich bitch Brooke (Alice Zeokolski), the timid M.J. (Tara Robinson), sporty Greta (Adrienne Rose-White ) and Jules, the goth (Britt Flatmo) meet each other in detention where they learn of Jules’ abilities in witchcraft (as is often the case). Before long they convene in the woods just outside of their small New England town (which of course has a history of witchcraft) and before you can say The Craft, they form a coven. At first they revel in their new-found powers, but soon all that spell-castin’ begins taking it’s toll, as the girls begin to suffer physically from their magic…the law of equivalent exchange and all that. Soon the coven is wracked with strife, and a mystery from decades past may claim their lives! I was surprised by The Witch Files. First of all, the cast is really strong, and not full of the typical annoying teens you would expect to

Xbox One Review: ‘Amnesia Collection’ PART 1

I’ve wanted to review the new “Amnesia Collection” that’s out now on Xbox One, but I wanted to give the main game “Amnesia: The Dark Descent” a fair review since it’s been out for years and many opinions and reviews were already made about it, so here we go. You play as a man named Daniel, an explorer who awakens in a castle with no memory of how he got there but finds a trail of liquid that he follows and soon discovers clues to his past. He was cursed after an encounter with a mystical orb on an expedition. As the curse of a shadow haunts him he seeks help from a baron named Alex, who’s been experimenting with the orbs that have otherworldly powers that either allows those in control of it to travel different plains of existence or immortality. Through exploring the castle, Daniel learns what he and Alex have done in their quest to control the
