Blu-ray Review: The Mimic (2017)
Hee-yeon (Jung-ah Yum) moves with her family to the Korean countryside following a family tragedy (namely the disappearance of her son) that has taken a toll on their mental state (as you would imagine such a thing would). Everything seems simple enough with the bucolic life, but soon a body is found within a brick wall deep in the woods while simultaneously a mute waif shows up who Hee-yeon takes in…this is not going to go well. Anyway, soon the child begins perfectly mimicking the voice of our heroine’s daughter and acting like a complete weirdo (okay, this kid is strange right from the get-go). Before you can say “boo” the ol’ paranormal activity in the house goes from “zero” to “fucked up” and the already strained family relations become even worse. Can our protagonists survive the outre attack, or will their reality come crashing down?!! Filled with slick cinematography, a suitably drab color pallet, and strong acting (in particular

Starting at his cinema obsessed childhood and working it’s way into his existence as a true legend of exploitation cinema; King Cohen: The Wild World of Film Maker Larry Cohen is a fascinating look into the life and times of a comedian turned Director (and Writer…and Producer) responsible for some of the greatest titles our beloved horror biz has to offer, such as: The It’s Alive Trilogy, The Stuff, Q: The Winged Serpent, God Told Me To and many more! Over the course of an hour and forty seven minutes we take a break neck journey into just what it took to get Cohen’s legendary horror and Blaxploitation flicks to the silver screen including; filming cars driving down the sidewalks of New York City, simulated gun shots and film fights, daring stunts…all without planning, permits, or on lookers being clued in to the fact that a motion picture is being filmed. It’s guerrilla film making at it’s best, and infused

Back in January, we shared the trailer for Paramount’s series adaptation of Michael Lehmann’s 1988 cult classic Heathers. Today, EW is reporting that series has been axed by the Paramount Network, formally known as Spike TV, following its premiere delay. The reason, Paramount felt that the show was insensitive following the Parkland, Florida mass shooting. This is a high school show, we’re blowing up the school, there are guns in the school, it’s a satire and there are moments of teachers having guns. It’s hitting on so many hot topics. This company can’t be speaking out of both sides of its mouth, saying the youth movement is important for us and we’ve done all these wonderful things to support that and at the same time, we’re putting on a show that we’re not comfortable with,” said Keith Cox, Paramount Network president of development and production. ““It’s a satire but it’s very bold,” Cox stated. “We knew that and then this
