Movie Review: Red Eye is a Strong if Flawed Slasher

The narrative of Red Eye goes a lil’ somethin’ like this; four good looking “friends” (note those quotation marks, because these pals aren’t all that fond of each other for the most part) head off into the woods of Black Creek West Virginia to film a documentary about a legendary inbred maniac named ‘Red Eye’. As they traipse through the woods they talk…and…talk…and talk…(throwing in some “cute” references to other fright flicks…and some dark backstory here and there). Eventually (thirty minutes in out of the hour and thirteen minute run time) the killer makes his appearance and we start to get what we came for; namely for the cast to be reduced in number. As the stalk n’ slay continues we find that all may not be as it seems in those wicked woods. The main attraction to Red Eye is the immense amount of heart the film makers obviously put into it. Writer/director Tristan Clay and writer/actor Destinie Orndoff

It’s a killer gig being a parent, as Donny Boaz (Dallas) and Cari Moskow (One Tree Hill) will learn this March in The Terrible Two. Instead, the Poes now find themselves imprisoned in the house they thought was their safe place, and battling their two daughters for survival. Co-starring Reid Doyle (“Six”) and Devin McGee (“One Tree Hill”, Max Steel). The Pronouns of Fandom

Disclaimer: Sports, film, music, and art will do more to unite a nation than politics. All of these, collectively known as “entertainment” allow people a sense of belonging, identity and sharing. They can represent the best of us as a species. All can inspire, amaze and make us and make us better people. Notice I left out any reference to “ownership.” Grammar Nazis love to focus on the improper use of “You’re” and “Your” and “They’re and There.” I suggest they look into the misuse of certain pronouns. Fans of any medium don’t seem to understand “Us” and “Them” or “We” and “They.” A sports example: The Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl 52. The players, coach, the staff that worked on a daily basis to make the machine run–THEY won the Super Bowl. YOU reading this did not. To see “We did it!” type posts online is another example of a spectator world that confuses viewing with doing. To be

Movie Reviews: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is Perfect for Horror Hounds with a Taste for the Bizarre!

Tomatoes begin going absolutely batshit insane and devouring people after genetic crop experimentation goes sideways (timely today as in 1978) …what is the nation to do? Well, for starters they wrangle a task force led by the erstwhile Mason Dixon and including master of disguise Sam Smith, champion swimmer Gretta Attenbaum, scuba diver Greg Colburn, and soldier Wilbur Finletter who is eternally connected to his parachute. As much as the team (ineptly) tries, the tomatoes eventually win the day, calling for military action which too ultimately falls short. Is there anything on Earth that can stop this preternaturally powerful produce? Yes, yes there is and it’s suitably ridiculous and won’t be spoiled here! Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is the perfect mixture of mile a minute sight gags (think in the tradition of the Airplane films…yet before they were created) and ’50’s sci-fi flicks where every conceivable animal or insect would mutate, grow to titanic proportions and menace mankind. It

‘The Meg’ Trailer Is Coming!

The giant prehistoric Megalodon is everywhere these days. Author Steve Alten’s franchise is not only getting a new novel titled Meg: Generations, a comic, but also the film adaptation of Alten’s first book titled The Meg from director Jon Turtletaub. Alten himself has just confirmed that the trailer for The Meg will be swimming in sometime in March, followed by its theatrical release this summer. In the film, “A deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific…with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is

‘Black Water’ Sequel Heads For ‘The Abyss’

Director Andrew Traucki and producer Michael Robertson, the team behind 2007’s Black Water, are back together again for the upcoming sequel, Black Water: Abyss. Black Water: Abyss centers on an adventure-loving couple who convince their friends to explore a remote cave system in the forests of Northern Australia. With a storm approaching, they abseil into the mouth of the cave, which starts to flood and the group finds themselves threatened by a pack of crocodiles, setting up a tense survival drama, Variety reports. Mike Runagall of Altitude said the sequel will have a similar feel as the original, which was shot with live crocodiles. “Black Water: Abyss employs the same ingenious approach on a much larger canvas to deliver a highly commercial high-concept thriller from a team with a proven track record in this arena,” Producer Robertson has stated: “Like all films in this genre, Black Water: Abyss is designed to terrify and scare, cause dread and alarm, to invoke

She’s Back! Lindsay Lohan Returns With Werewolves

It’s been a while, but Hollywood’s favorite mean girl will soon return to the big screen in a new crime horror film, The Shadow Within. This will be Lohan’s first film since starring in the 2013 film The Canyons. The Shadow Within will be about a private detective (presumably played by Lohan) who’s trying to solve the murder of her uncle while keeping it a secret that she’s a descendant of werewolves. More information about the film is sparse and the film’s IMDB page seems to add to the confusion. What does not help is that there’s a movie with the same name that came out in 2007, mysteriously enough Lohan herself posted on Instagram a teaser poster for the film back in December but since has been removed. The fate of the picture is unknown whether or not it will howl its way to the big screen or whimper with its tail between its legs straight to DVD, all
