Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Adrienne King
Here we are again, my Little Monsters. It’s Wednesday, and I am almost three days removed from the festivities at Days of the Dead, here in Indianapolis. In fact, it was at this years convention that I met this week’s wonderful Woman of Horror, Adrienne King. Born in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, Adrienne got into the business quite early, having made an appearance in an Ivory Soap commercial at the age of six months old. Yes, you read that right – six months old. When she was nine years old, Adrienne portrayed the character of Melinda in the 1965 Hallmark Hall of Fame television film production of Inherit the Wind. After graduation from Oyster Bay High School, Adrienne was accepted to attend New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology where she majored in Fine Art. She would also take jazz dance classes, under the tutelage of Phil Black, that would hone her skills as a performer. After graduating from

Thom Burgess Explores Supernatural Folk Horror In ‘The Eyrie’
From writer Thom Burgess (Malevolents) and illustrator Barney Bodoano comes The Eyrie, a new graphic novella mixing equal parts ghost story and folk horror. As unnerving as it is beautiful, The Eyrie is the tale of Rebecca, an American photojournalist, who while working on location along the coast of Sussex, England, becomes entrenched in the darkness of the local folklore. She encounters the local townsfolk, who are a mostly friendly, if superstitious bunch. The thing is, they have every reason to be. Rebecca is being stalked by shadowy horrors born of death, torture, and revenge. Will she escape the quaint seaside town before she’s taken by the Long Men? Burgess’ dialog is realistic, his settings and backstories eerily familiar and at-once brand new, while Bodoano’s ominous storybook-style art brings a palpable feeling of a gloomy “otherness” to the work. Drenched in foreboding, sinister atmosphere akin to The Wicker Man and The Woman in Black, The Eyrie is more than a

I just want to start off by saying that I really enjoyed this movie. The movie has been presented as a whole bunch of things… a little ‘Mad Max’, a little bit ‘Terminator’, a little bit ‘Star Wars’, science fiction, drama, action…and a slew of other things. Well, it delivers on them all. From intergalactic battles in space, to making me laugh, to heart wrenching scenes. We are truly taken on this journey with the protagonist Sienna through pinnacle points in her life when she has to deal with not only her own journey to figure out who she is, but also to destroy the artificial intelligence that is killing humans. I am not going to

While Romero did not direct the film, that was done by Matt Birman (Warehouse 13), he did co-write the script with Birman and serves as producer.
