Terror at the Door: 'The Stranger' Trailer Teases Family Drama and Creature Horror

Terror at the Door: ‘The Stranger’ Trailer Teases Family Drama and Creature Horror

Paul Gerrard and Mike Clarke, the creative force behind A Light Through Colored Glass and Semolina Pilchard, make a formidable leap into feature-length filmmaking with The Stranger. This ambitious directorial debut merges the claustrophobic dread of a traditional home invasion story with unpredictable, supernatural horror. An Unsettling Narrative of Grief and Intrusion The story centers on Amanda, played by Jennifer K. Preston (The Wheel of Time, Hosts), and her daughter Karli (Isabella Percival, He Kills at Night). Left shattered after a violent robbery ends in the brutal murder of her husband, the grief-stricken mother and daughter attempt to rebuild their shattered lives. Seeking refuge from their trauma, they relocate to a remote bed and breakfast deep within the quiet British countryside. The Arrival of an Unwelcome Guest However, the fragile peace is short-lived. They are interrupted by the unexpected appearance of Kyle, an enigmatic visitor played by Damien Ashley (Semolina Pilchard). A single evening quickly devolves into something far more insidious.

Cult Hit 'Space Goblin' Returns as an Unhinged Feature Film!

Cult Hit ‘Space Goblin’ Returns as an Unhinged Feature Film!

Lock up your livestock and hide your bounties: the award-winning cult-favorite animated short Space Goblins is officially back—and it’s leveling up into a full-length, blood-soaked feature film. Brought to you by MegaCity Media, this bigger, badder, and infinitely messier cinematic reimagining expands the chaotic universe of Gib and Gob, taking independent sci-fi animation into delightfully unhinged, uncharted territory. And get this: it’s directed by Amer Shihab, the same director behind the short film. The Story: Dumb Luck Meets Galactic Chaos At the heart of the madness are Gib and Gob—two alien bounty-hunter brothers emerging from a decade-long hideout. The bad news? The galaxy didn’t get any smarter while they were gone. In fact, it’s devolved into absolute lawlessness. To survive, the duo must face off against monstrous syndicate lords, impossible odds, and their own complete lack of impulse control. Think RoboCop and Total Recall satire smashed into the bleak, gritty future-noir of Dredd (2012)—all dumped into a post-apocalyptic blender of

Spoiler-Free Reviews: Creature of the Pines and The Burning of Broken Beak (Panic Fest)

Creature feature devotees, we have reviews of two monsterrific films for you from Panic Fest’s virtual version: Creature of the Pines and The Burning of Broken Beak. Creature of the Pines (U.S., 2026) Official Synopsis A documentary investigation into Pine Hollow disappearances reveals a presence lurking deep within the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Review With Creature of the Pines, cowriters/codirectors Chris Ruppert and Tyler Transue craft a faux documentary/found footage hybrid that cryptozoology devotees should find quite intriguing. I don’t want to give too much away, but I will say that what lurks in the woods in this feature isn’t the usual hirsute, large-footed suspect, which should make this film even more tempting in the curiosity department. Talking heads interview footage is interspersed between “found” footage of hikers who disappeared in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. The experts and others portrayed as interview subjects largely do a solid job of seeming natural in their portrayals, a style that is not

Movie Review: The Creature (1977) - Severin Blu-ray

Movie Review: The Creature (1977) – Severin Blu-ray

Christina (Ana Belén) has it all, she lives a comfortable life with her husband Marcos (Juan Diego), the host of a truly ridiculous variety show, and she is expecting the couples first child, but… A brief “attack” from a black German Shepard causes Christina to miscarry, so Marcos whisks Christina off for a romp on the beach where they spent their honeymoon, but in a shocking twist of fate (though definitely nothing compared to what’s to come), Christina befriends a stray dog of the same breed as the one who hassled her earlier. Now there’s no way to say this gently… Christina has an affair with the dog (sex implied, so there’s that), and soon a choice has to be made between Marcos or the dog. It isn’t much of a Sophie’s Choice level decision, as Marcos is a pretty terrible human being… I can’t believe I’m typing this… wait, yes I can… Anyway, what could have been a mega-sleazy

New ‘Borderlands’ Featurette Introduces You to the Family

The beloved video game franchise Borderlands explodes onto the silver screen this summer with a star-studded cast and a story that promises chaotic fun. Lilith is tasked with finding the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful villain, Atlas (Edgar Ramírez). She’s forced to return to her chaotic homeworld. Lilith can’t go it alone. She assembles a motley crew of unlikely heroes, including Roland (Kevin Hart), a seasoned mercenary with his own agenda. Panic Fest 2024 Spoiler-Free Short Film Reviews: “Cereal,” “The Curse of the Velvet Vampire,” “We Joined a Cult,” “Up on the Housetop,” “Strange Creatures,” “Howl at the Dead”

Panic Fest 2024 Spoiler-Free Short Film Reviews: “Cereal,” “The Curse of the Velvet Vampire,” “We Joined a Cult,” “Up on the Housetop,” “Strange Creatures,” “Howl at the Dead”

Following is a roundup of six of the short-film shockers that screened at this year’s edition of New Orlean’s Overlook Film Festival. Cereal Canadian short Cereal, from director Shane R. Preston, finds young girl Chelsea (Trinity Kaylani Seiling in a fun performance) receiving a disturbing message from her alphabet-shaped cereal: “Kill.” This evil kid short has a nice retro vibe and looks great, with a fine supporting performance from Shelby Handley as Chelsea’s mother. My only quibble is that the fourth wall gets broken twice, which reduces the effect for me. The Curse of the Velvet Vampire Director Christoffer Schurict’s collaboration with band 802 finds two Chinese horror fans watching a strange film in a video rental store. Soon enough, this slice of cinema intersects with real life. Featuring plenty of female undead and the resulting bloodletting, along with some music video, this short film has cult favorite written all over it. We Joined a Cult From Chris McInroy, director

Movie Review: The Devil’s Partner/Creature From The Haunted Sea (1961) - Film Masters Blu-ray

Movie Review: The Devil’s Partner/Creature From The Haunted Sea (1961) – Film Masters Blu-ray

Old man Pete Jensen performs one of those Satanic ceremonies that are all the rage with the ladies in the Bridge Club… or apparently with crazy ol’ coots who spend their days living off the grid, performing Black Masses, and absolutely pissing off a sizable portion of the population of Furnace Flats down New Mexico way. Anyway, Pete dies and before you can say “Faustian Deal” his young nephew Nick Richards (Ed Nelson) blows into town and takes up residence in Pete’s rustic shit shack… where he almost immediately meets and gets the hornies for Nell Lucas (Jean Allison), the daughter of the town’s doctor, Doc Lucas (Edgar Buchanan). Although smitten with the lass, Nick is cock-blocked by her beau, auto-mechanic David Simpson (Richard Crane), so he does what any sane, rational individual would do… he performs a magic ritual which causes David’s German Shepard to go completely insane and brutally maim him. Get this, Nick also commits other magic
