Movie Review: Alone (2020)

Director John Hymas’ thriller Alone is an intense tale of one woman’s fight to survive as a serial killer hunts her down. When Jessica (Jules Willcox) backs up her belongings and heads off to start a new life in a new town she has no idea of the horrors she is about to face. A serial killer has set his sights on her and will stop at nothing to get her. Warning: Spoilers Ahead Jessica is a complicated character. She’s still coping with the loss of her husband and her family’s opinion that she’s making a mistake leaving town to start over. When Jessica stops at a gas station she meets a stranger (Marc Menchaca) who asks a few to many questions like where is she going, where is she from, if she’s traveling alone. Of course, this automatically raises red flags. Every time she stops he pops up and it doesn’t take long for her to realize that she’s

Lund Fantastic Film Festival Goes Hybrid for 2020, Announces Poster and First Two Features

Lund Fantastic Film Festival — a Swedish fest presenting amazing horror, science fiction, and fantasy movies from around the globe — has scheduled a hybrid version for this year. Most screenings will be online through Spamflix with a select few in-person screenings during the fest’s October 28–November 1 run. Lund Fantastic has also debuted its poster for this year and announced its first two films. I have already seen Woman of the Photographs, and can recommend it as a hypnotic character study and psychological thriller with body horror elements and superb sound design. German chiller Sleep promises to be a gripping psychological outing, as well. The following information is from Lund Fantastic’s press releases and official announcements. For more information, visit https://www.fff.se/. At age 26, Lund Fantastic shows no signs of slowing down and is proud to go through with its 2020 edition (October 28–November 1), even if the current state of the world brings changes to the usual format.

Romero’s iconic 1982 movie. I’ve never been happier to get behind the camera as I am today. After missing our shoot date in March by just over 48 hours, season 2 of Creepshow hits the ground running as cameras begin to roll. The cast and crew have a level of excitement and enthusiasm I’ve never seen before and it’s inspiring. Hot off the heels of his acclaimed film, Host, Blumhouse has entered into a three-picture deal with sought-after British director Rob Savage. Blumhouse will finance and partner with Savage to produce the three films in which Savage will be collaborating with the same team behind Host, including producer Douglas Cox, writers Jed Shepherd & Gemma Hurley, and editor Breanna Rangott. We’ve been tracking Rob’s work for some time now, and when I got a look at Host, I saw the inventiveness in his work that Ryan Turek on the Blumhouse team had been championing,” said Blumhouse founder Jason Blum. “We are looking forward to getting this partnership underway immediately.” I’m thrilled to be partnering with Blumhouse on these movies. Their status in the horror genre is unmatched, but I equally admire their filmmaker-led approach. They embody the independent filmmaking spirit with which we made Host and I can’t wait to create some new nightmares with them.” Savage stated. Released July

The American Dream Turns Into A Nightmare In Shudder’s ‘Spiral’ (Trailer)

The American dream turns into a nightmare in Kurtis David Harder’s (Summerland, Incontrol) Spiral, a horror film for the current age, Spiral, which skillfully dissects themes of ostracization, otherness, and the cycles of societal rejection and hate, led by a breakout performance by Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman. Check out the new intense trailer. In the film, “Malik (Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, “American Horror Story”, “Canada’s Drag Race)” and Aaron (Ari Cohen, IT: Chapter II) move to a small town in search of a better environment for them and their 16-year-old daughter (Jennifer Laporte, Web of Dreams). But nothing is as it seems as something sinister lies behind the picturesque homes and welcoming faces of their new neighbors (Lochlyn Munro, CW’s “Riverdale”).” Also starring Ty Wood and Chandra Wes, the film was written by Colin Minihan (writer of the Shudder Original Z and the upcoming new Urban Legend) and John Poliquin (Selfie). Spiral is produced by Minihan, Harder, and John Poliquin for Digital Interference, the
