‘Origin Of Everything’ Series Delves Into Killer Clowns In Premiere Episode (Watch)

For many people, Coulrophobia (the fear of clowns) is all too real. No matter if the fear was triggered by Stephen King’s IT, a childhood trauma, or when serial killer John Wayne Gacy’s crimes became public, the fear is understandable. There is something inherently disturbing about someone hiding behind colorful makeup. The first episode PBS’ new digital weekly series ‘Origin of Everything’, hosted by Yale Doctoral candidate Danielle Bainbridge, has just premiered on YouTube and Facebook and explores the clowns went from characters entertaining kids to the villain of our nightmares. And we have the episode here to share with you (with the show’s permission). The series is dedicated to exploring the idea that the past is always present. Every aspect of modern life whether it’s the words we use, the foods we love, the objects that get us through the day, the geographical borders that surround us or even the identities we give ourselves, emerge from the past. Netflix Unveils Intense, Twisted Trailer For ‘Gerald’s Game’

The trailer has arrived for Mike Flanagan’s adaption of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game for Netflix. It’s intense and twisted, to say the least. Starring Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood, and Henry Thomas, the film centers on a woman whose husband suddenly dies while she is handcuffed to their bed, leaving her unable to free herself. As time passes she realizes that rescue is an all but hopeless and begins to slip into insanity. An Interview With Public Figure & Entertainer Samhain

Most people recognize the name Samhain as the spirit of Halloween, but there is an entertainer/public figure that goes by the same name. Meet Samhain. With a clown-like painted face, ghostly white eyes, nails that would impress Freddy Krueger, and safety pins jutting out from his bottom lip, Samhain makes appearances across the country at conventions, haunted houses, in movies and can be seen in music videos like the one below from “Stands With Fists”. Samhain, whose real name is unknown, has a monstrous following which he calls “The Cult of Samhain”. His followers and fans, referred to as his “little ones”, tune in religiously for his videos and live discussions where he discusses different topics on anything from bullying, to abuse and more. He takes the time to speak and respond to each “little one” that he can with a calm smooth voice and that eerie smile. He’s also known for his unapologetic bluntness. In each video, he reveals

‘It’ Projected To Smash September Box Office Records

After becoming the most viewed trailer in a single day with over 197 Million(!) hits, it’s perhaps not surprising that IT looks to be a huge box office hit. The Dark Tower flopping led to some fears about another major Stephen King project’s prospects, but it now seems those fears were unfounded with IT projected to bring in over $50 Million on its opening weekend. For a year that’s been very light on theatrical horror (other than the stellar Get Out and The Belko Experiment) IT is a welcome presence. The hype machine for this film has been going into overtime, and with only a few weeks left until release it’s reached a fever pitch. Quality wise, rather the film will float above its detractors to critical praise, or crash to the ground like a balloons popped by a critics needle remains to be seen. But even if it disappoints King fans, this film is going to make a lot of

Is ‘The Dark Tower’ Really That Bad?

No, it’s not…..but probably only if you already know the source material. The Dark Tower might seriously be the only movie I ever thought was actually too short. I really do enjoy a concise piece of cinema; Lord of the Rings withstanding, a pretty standard mistake in films, both masterpieces and massacred pieces, is a run time that’s just too long. The infamous bar scene in Inglorious Basterds, the highway opening of Manos: Hands of Fate, pretty much the entirety of The Room; many films, hits and shits alike, often could use a little more time in the cutting room, whether it be the result of overindulgent directors or expensive set pieces the studio doesn’t want to go to waste. However this is not so in The Dark Tower, which is without a doubt one of the most hopelessly confusing films in modern memory. Guess it wasn’t the greatest idea to condense seven novels into 95 minutes (and thats including

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Shawnee Smith

We are midway through yet another week my Little Monsters. August is well underway, the kiddie winkies are heading back to school (HUZZAH!), and Halloween lurks in the not so distant future – a mere 83 days to be exact. But f you’re here, it means you’re in need of creepy, horror related goodies. And as I an known to do every Wednesday, I have returned to bring you all another wonderful Woman of Horror. This weeks female focal point is Miss Shawnee Smith. I don’t know about the rest of you, but the first time I remember seeing Shawnee Smith on screen was in the movie Summer School. And while it wasn’t a horror film, it did feature Dean Cameron and Gary Riley as the horror film (specifically the Tobe Hooper classic, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) addicted characters of Francis “Chainsaw” Gremp and Dave “Just Dave” Frasier. Of course Shawwnee’s versatility has enabled her to skillfully work across other

5 Podcast Recommendations For Horror Fans

If you’re a horror fan and you don’t listen to podcasts you’re missing out! Podcasts, in general, are a great way to fill your daily commute, and you can find countless programs on virtually any topic imaginable. For the horror fan, there are tons of untapped entertainment just waiting to be downloaded! To get you started, here’s a list of 5 of my personal favorites, in no particular order: Stephen King Cast The Stephen King Cast is a weekly podcast where the host reviews every single Stephen King work, both book and film adaptation in chronological order. He provides a lot of insightful retrospection, and while I don’t agree with every one of his opinions, I do look forward to his show every week. Lore Lore is probably my favorite horror-related podcast. The host, Aaron Mahnke, is a fantastic narrator (something that isn’t easily said about all podcasts…) and the soundtrack that accompanies the episodes is brilliant. From the podcast’s
