Movie Review: Tubi Original 'Unborn' Gives Birth To Both Horrors And Heartache

Movie Review: Tubi Original ‘Unborn’ Gives Birth To Both Horrors And Heartache

Tubi has been on a roll with their new line of original horror films. The latest release, Unborn, is what I’m here to review today, though you should check out my review for their previous horror film Hellblazers. Pregnant women naturally face a range of fears, both real and valid, and those that seem a bit silly while they are pregnant. Unborn takes those fears and combines them with supernatural horrors. In the film, a couple desperate for a child finally get the good news they have been hoping for, but it doesn’t take long for Rachel (Jade Harlow) to begin experiencing strange things beginning with the image of her dead mother’s face showing up on her ultrasound. When people around her begin to become possessed, Rachel begins to search for answers, learning that her family has long been connected to a satanic cult that worships Lillith. The film is filled with emotion that by the end seemed to have

Dark Star Announces Release Date For ‘Alone With You’ Starring Barbara Crampton

Dark Star Pictures has just announced the February release date for Alone With You, written and directed by Bennett and Justin Brooks in their feature film debuts. In the film,  ”as a young woman painstakingly prepares a romantic homecoming for her girlfriend, their apartment begins to feel more like a tomb when voices, shadows, and hallucinations reveal a truth she has been unwilling to face.” Emily Bennett (King of Knives), Emma Myles (“Orange Is the New Black”), Dora Madison (“Friday Night Lights”), and genre icon Barbara Crampton (You’re Next) star, with Andrew Corkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene) and Theo James (Divergent) producing under their Untapped banner. We’ve always been drawn to the horror films of the late 70’s/ early 80’s. Films that played with the sanity of their characters such as don’t look now or the changeling. These films could almost be thrillers until they walked us deeper into the dark like the sentinel or possession. Those films bring the

It’s that time of year again, where we share with you our top 10 favorite horror films of the year. It wasn’t easy to narrow it down, there were so many great films released this year, but these films stood out. 10. Candyman (review) Oscar® winner Jordan Peele unleashes a fresh take on the blood-chilling urban legend of Candyman. Directed by Nia DaCosta (Little Woods, upcoming Captain Marvel 2), who breathes new life into the classic horror franchise.. “For as long as residents can remember, the housing projects of Chicago’s Cabrini-Green neighborhood were terrorized by a word-of-mouth ghost story about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, easily summoned by those daring to repeat his name five times into a mirror. In the present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down, visual artist Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II; HBO’s “Watchmen”, Us) and his partner, gallery director Brianna Cartwright (Teyonah Parris; If Beale

Horror Fuel.com’s Top 10 Film Festival Horror Movies of 2021

Horror Fuel.com’s Top 10 Film Festival Horror Movies of 2021

This year was an outstanding one for horror films making the film festival rounds, which is where I see most of my movies each year. Thankfully, many films are making it to wider release quicker than in the past — for example, my #1 film of 2021 is already available on VOD, and several of my honorable mentions are on streaming services or on DVD or Blu-ray. Keep the following films in mind because some of them just may be future favorites for you in 2022! 1. The Feast (Wales) Director Lee Haven Jones’ Welsh outing The Feast — a blend of folk, psychological, environmental, and supernatural horror — instantly became my favorite film of the year, regardless of genre, when I saw it as part of SXSW Online 2021 in March. In my Horror Fuel review, I said that The Feast is an “eerie slice of horror cinema that jangles the nerves and does a beautiful job of slowly

The Best Thriller Movies for Sports Fans

The Best Thriller Movies for Sports Fans

While we were trying to make a list of specifically horror films for this list, we decided we had to branch out a bit – as sports horror (sometimes listed under the subgenre “sports”) was quite limited to b- movies and even c movies. So, switching our search to thrillers made it easier to add a few better-quality films. The Fan – Baseball Starring Robert De Niro and Wesley Snipes – the fan tells the story of obsessive fan Gil Renard (De Niro) excited over his favorite baseball team – the San Francisco Giants – adding three-time MVP Bobby Rayburn (Snipes) to their roster. As Rayburn struggles in his first season with the team, Renard takes it upon himself to help Rayburn get back to playing at an MVP. Renard is not helping him out by doing his cooking, picking up his dry cleaning, or giving him rollover betting tips – no it involves much more nefarious behavior, eventually devolving
