The Golden Globe Nominated Horror ‘La Llorona’ Is Coming To Digital

RLJE Films is set to unleash the politically charged Golden Globe nominated horror film La Llorona this March. La Llorona blends together the terror of both myth and reality into a devastating exposé of the genocidal atrocities against the Mayan community in Guatemala. Through a modern retelling of the classic Latin American legend, La Llorona forces a reckoning with not-so-distant crimes that should not have ever have been forgotten. The story centers on indignant retired general Enrique who finally faces trial for the genocidal massacre of thousands of Mayans decades ago. As a horde of angry protestors threatens to invade their opulent home, the women of the house – his haute wife, conflicted daughter, and precocious granddaughter – weigh their responsibility to shield the erratic, senile Enrique against the devastating truths behind being publicly revealed and the increasing sense that a wrathful supernatural force is targeting them for his crimes. Shudder’s Golden Globe Nominated Horror ‘La Llorona’ Is Coming To Digital

RLJE Films, a business unit of AMC Networks, has now picked up the select rights to Shudder’s hit film La Llorona for home release. La Llorona blends together the terror of both myth and reality into a devastating exposé of the genocidal atrocities against the Mayan community in Guatemala. Blu-ray Review: A Slaughter in Plague Town (2008)

A bickering family of American tourists decide to stop off in a small Irish village located in a picturesque, verdant landscape. Seems prosaic enough, but as horror movies oft times go; this village has a deep, dark (in this case mutant) based secret that will put that vacay in a serious dovetail right quick! As you may surmise from that sinister synopsis, Plague Town (or A Slaughter in Plague Town) is a fright flick positively dripping with atmosphere. This is nowhere as evident in the locales utilized to bring this terror tale to life; all wicked woods and dark, almost monotone environs. It’s drab, it’s dreary, and it looks exactly like the place you’d run into some good ol’ folk horror madness! Adding to the positives are the lean n’ mean flow of the film delivered by co-writer (along with John Cregan)/director David Gregory keeps things disturbing and moving like a spectral locomotive from hell, so this one never becomes

Blu-ray Review: Tales of the Uncanny (2020)

Director David Gregory (Blood & Flesh: The Reel Life & Ghastly Death of Al Adamson, Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley’s Island of Dr. Moreau) sets his sinister sights on the wicked world of arcane anthologies with his latest documentary effort; Tales of the Uncanny, which comes to us on Blu-ray courtesy of those crafty lil’ minxes o’er at Severin! Gregory, along with author and founder of The Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies Kier-La Janisse, take a chronological journey through the putrid plethora of anthology-style fright flicks that have tickled the fiendish fancy of horror hounds world fuckin’ wide… from the silent era, to the truly suburb Amicus flicks of the shockin’ seventies (and the pictures created by Milton Subotsky after the legendary studio folded), to television (The Twilight Zone, Night Gallery, et al.), to Creepshow and it’s descendants… all is paid heed (though some all too briefly, such as one of yours cruelly’s fav anthology films; Joseph

Review: ‘The Wheel’ Is A Frightening Flick From Masters Of The Genre

While Ferris wheels can be a lot of fun, they can also be frightening as proven in Nikhil Bhagat’s fantastic short horror film The Wheel, set to be released this February. The film finds a woman (Molly Buecher) alone in a big empty house while her husband is on a trip shopping for antiques to sell in their shop. When he sends home an old toy Ferris wheel he has no idea of the terror it will unleash on his wife. The first thing I noticed right off to bat about The Wheel is its fantastic cinematography, rich look, and great camera work, which is top-notch and better than we usually see in short films. The acting from Molly Buecher was great and she really sells her fear which feels authentic. The dark entity who appears in the film is creepy as hell and has a killer look and design that we haven’t seen a million times before. This terrifying

‘A Quiet Place II’ Hit With Yet Another Delay

Two years ago, when a movie’s release date was announced you could count on it arriving on time, but thanks to the covid pandemic that just isn’t the case anymore. Now, films continue to get delays time and time again and big-budget movies are no exception. One of the films I’m referring to is John Krasinski‘s A Quiet Place II which has been hit with multiple delays. Most recently it was set to open in theaters in April, but a new release date has just put it even further away, debuting on September 17, 2021. We hope it sticks this time. Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, and Djimon Hounsou star in the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2018 film . Part II finds the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) now facing the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly
