‘Last Exorcism’ Director Teaming Up With ‘The Strangers’ Writer For ‘Them’

Following this month’s episode of Hulu and Blumhouse’s holiday-themed horror series “Into the Dark”, titled “Down”, director Daniel Stamm (The Last Exorcism) teased his upcoming horror film, a home invasion thriller, during a conversation with Daily Dead. His next project titled Them was written by Bryan Bertino (The Strangers). Them, set in Texas, centers on a group of oil workers attacked by something out in the desert and sounds like a new spin on the home invasion genre. I’m hopefully directing next a movie called They, written by Bryan Bertino and produced by Dark Castle. We’re casting now,” Stamm told the site. “Bryan Bertino is the guy who wrote and directed The Strangers, and he has a talent for writing set pieces that are really fresh, interesting, and unpredictable. It’s so hard to do something original and fresh in the home invasion space, because there are only so many ways to scare someone.” Stamm continued, “It’s home invasion… all set

Special Edition Of Wes Craven’s ‘Swamp Thing’ Coming This March

Before superhero movies liked Thor and The Avengers smashed box offices, Wes Craven brought DC’s Swamp Thing to life on the big screen. 88 Films is celebrating the Craven’s vision by releasing a special edition of Swamp Thing ahead of DC’s new “Swamp Thing” series premiere. “Following the success of The Hills Have Eyes, Swamp Thing shows Craven adapting his style from less rough ‘n’ ready thrills and spills – and the result is an adventure thriller featuring a mutant-monster with good intentions, and a supporting cast of fan-favourites including Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog, Escape from New York), Ray Wise (Twin Peaks, RoboCop) and David Hess (The Last House On The Left) in one of his best-remembered villainous turns.” Released in 1982, Swamp Thing remains one of Craven’s most mesmerizing achievements – with a faithful DC-comic look and action-packed special effects. 88 Films is delighted to present Swamp Thing in a very special edition Blu-ray to be released on March

Blu-ray Review: Next of Kin (1982)

Linda (Jacki Kerin) inherits a retirement home called Montclare from her mother…now that is one hell of a thing to inherit…I mean what young woman wouldn’t want to own a mega-creepy house jam-packed with weird ass old people, and dreadful secrets (more on that in a tick)? I know for a fact that is exactly the number one wish of women ages 18 to 24…that and like Pogs or some shit… Anyway, Linda reads her mother’s diaries which detail some off-the-wall shit, like the fact someone was watching her and her tenants were dying under some fishy circumstances. Guess what? Like mother like daughter because L-dawg starts to see someone on her ass, and those geriatric jokers in her care begin dropping off…and before long, she is in a fight to keep both her sanity and well-being intact! Filled with breathtaking shot composition, a janky, off-kilter aesthetic, pitch perfect slow-burn pace, stunning location, and genuinely creepy moments, Next of Kin

The ‘Tangent Room’ Trailer Reveals A Universe In Danger

Epic Pictures has unveiled the trailer for writer-director Björn Engström‘s sci-fi thriller Tangent Room, starring Vee Vimolmal, Lisa Bearpark, Håkan Julander, Jennifer Lila, and Daniel Epstein. Trapped in a mysterious room with no escape, four brilliant minds race against time to prevent a cosmic collapse of the universe. They must learn to work together and solve the puzzle before it’s too late. Engström describes his inspiration for the film: I found a research paper explaining how measurement data from the space experiment WMAP could be interpreted as scrape marks caused by a parallel universe scraping against our own,” says writer and director, Engström. “I immediately got a story in my head: What if this collision between universes happened inside a room? And what if four scientists have to figure out what is going on before it kills them? This idea fed my imagination and I wrote the first draft of the TANGENT ROOM screenplay in a matter of weeks.“ The

Eli Roth’s New Horror Movie Begins Filming This Month

Last year Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel, Hostel 2, The Green Inferno) went outside the horror genre for his movies The House with the Clock in its Walls, a family-friendly tale, and his revenge thriller Death Wish. We all knew that it wouldn’t be long before he would be returning to his horror roots and we were right. It appears he has a new horror flick in the works. Set to kick off filming in Boston this month, the still-untitled film was co-written by Roth and Jeff Rendell, according to Production Weekly. Here’s the interesting thing, Rendell was also the co-writer of Roth’s faux movie trailer for the faux movie Thanksgiving (below) which was featured in the movie Grindhouse from Miramax, who happens to be teaming up with Roth for this feature film. Could this be a feature film version of Thanksgiving? Maybe. We’ll have to wait to find out.
