There are few things creepier than kids in horror films. One of the most popular franchises featuring evil kids is Children of the Corn. And a new sequel, the tenth film of the franchise, is filming as we speak. Joel Soisson (Children of the Corn: Genesis) penned the new script and John Gulager (Feast, Piranha 3DD) is in the director’s chair.
Little else is known about the project at this point. Dimension Films has not revealed if the new Children of the Corn will be direct to DVD like many if its predecessors or who has been cast. Many believe that Dimension is rushing to make the film due to the fact that if a new film of a franchise isn’t made every six years, they will loose the rights to the franchise. But I guess we will find out soon enough.
The original Children of the Corn premiered on March 9, 1984 and centered on a couple trapped in a remote town where a religious cult is at work. All the adults of the town are missing. The cult believes that everyone over the age of 18 must die. The story was based on a short story written by Stephen King. Fritz Kierch directed the original.
